The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel. To be clear, my views come from my own political convictions and should never be interpreted as hostility toward Jewish people, for whom I have deep love and respect.  Everything I know about acting, activism, and humanism has been profoundly shaped by the Jewish friends, colleagues, and loved ones who have been integral and family throughout every point of my life.

This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public. 

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.

Lo que la ha matado tiene un nombre bastante español: el garrotillo. Así la llamaban en el siglo de oro cuando arrasó Castilla entre 1583 y 1638. Porque morían niños igual que en el garrote vil. Despacio, asfixiados y con el cuello hinchado como el de un toro. Hoy día se llama difteria.

Permanencia cantonada en la garganta, fabricando una membrana grisácea parecida al cemento. Produce una toxina que entra en la sangre y va al corazón al hígado a los riñones. A la italiana de cuatro años le destrozó el corazón. Le pusieron ECMO. Para nada.

De hecho, la vacuna no actúa contra el bicho, sino contra el veneno. Es un toxoide: enseña al cuerpo a combatir la toxina antes de que aparezca. Al primo vacunado, lo colonizó la misma bacteria pero está a salvo.

Los padres no la vacunaron, porque un familiar era autista y tenían miedo. Ese miedo es falso y en 2010 le costó la licencia médica a su inventor.

Daniel Gascón no me cae mal. Coincido con él de vez en cuando y tenemos una relación cordial, nada especialmente afectuosa, pero educada en la convivencia respetuosa como no puede ser de otra manera con quien tienes posiciones diferentes. Eso sí, sus opiniones me parecen algo que merece poco interés intelectual, seguramente porque su percepción del mundo y la mía están separadas por cosas fundamentales como la clase social y el privilegio. Esa manera de sentir y estar en el mundo nos hace habitar el espacio de una manera muy diferente. Nuestras opiniones están separadas por la ecología, por el ambiente que habitamos y por la ubicación ante el conflicto. En mi caso jamás lo rehúyo, en el suyo lo teme más que a la toma de los medios de producción.

Eso fue su columna de defensa de Vito Quiles en El País, apelando a la libertad de expresión. Un ejercicio excelso de búsqueda de aprobación de aquellos que ejercen la violencia política con la aspiración de ser aceptado y así jamás ser uno de los que la sufren. Ni siquiera creo que escribiera eso si tuviera información sobre lo que esta gente hace y es. Ni por supuesto lo pensaría, hay mucho de pereza en su manera de posicionarse porque, si hubiera tenido interés por saber cómo ejerce esta bazofia, habría preguntado a alguien que los ha sufrido. Porque les voy a explicar de manera breve todo aquello que hacen estos escuadristas y que Gascón promueve y legitima para que siga produciéndose, amparándose en que él jamás sufrirá ese acoso y persecución. Si se tratara de defensa de la libertad de expresión ha tenido sobradas muestras para defenderla en este país hablando de personajes que no profesan su ideología, por ejemplo con Valtonyc, con Pablo Hasel, con los titiriteros o con quien ha hecho chistes que han sentado mal a la reacción y han acabado en la Audiencia Nacional. Pero ahí nunca levantó la voz. No tenía por qué hacerlo, no escribir sobre algo no es no censurarlo, pero siempre es interesante ver cuándo eliges mostrarte.
