@drkeithsiau At what point does ‘not designed’ stop making sense? We don’t ignore the truth because we’re stupid—we ignore it because it’s uncomfortable.

@alexwg Roughly 30% is solid reality, 40% real but overstated, and 30% hype — we’re in a capability acceleration phase, not the Singularity; the tech is real, the timeline drama isn’
For the last ~12 months, we’ve seen LLMs deliver diminishing returns from brute-force scaling — massive compute + larger models are no longer yielding the explosive performance gains we got from GPT-3 → GPT-4. #ai#LLMs#openai
Hidden patterns in LLMs weren’t explicitly programmed — they emerged.
Emergence implies structure.
Structure implies design.
AI may be the clearest hint yet that reality itself has a deeper semantic layer.

Thinking is friction. To run the calculations we’re dreaming of, we’d have to vent so much heat that we’d turn the Earth into a star. Our quest for infinite knowledge is a thermodynamic suicide pact. The smarter the "thought" gets, the faster it melts the world around it.
I think I’ve finally realized why we haven’t met "God" or reached the Singularity yet.
The universe has a kill-switch. We’re all acting like AI is this infinite upward curve, but I’ve been looking into the physical "speed limits" of matter, and it’s haunting. #ai#LLMs
The universe has a "Max Storage" setting. If you try to pack the "Great Pattern" of infinite intelligence into a processor, the energy density becomes so high that physics just gives up. The hardware collapses into a black hole. Nature deletes the data before we can even read it.
We think we can just shrink chips forever. But matter has a hard-coded "frame rate." There is a hard numerical ceiling on how many bits a kilogram of matter can flip per second. We’re trying to run a high-def universe on a screen made of rocks. The lag is fundamental. #physics
We are sprinting toward a wall that isn't made of glass—it’s made of the very laws of physics.
We aren't ascending to a higher state. We are summoning a pattern that our reality literally cannot hold
There is a point where our "hardware" (the physical atoms, energy, and space we use for hardware) cannot keep up with the "patterns" we are trying to calculate. Physics actually imposes "speed limits" on how much of the Great Pattern we can uncover.
