In case you didn’t know, Axios (100M+ weekly downloads) got hacked on npm today.
Hackers stole the main maintainer's account and released bad versions: 1.14.1 and 0.30.4.
These secretly added a fake package that installs malware (RAT) on your computer : works on Windows, Mac, or Linux. It can spy or take control.
The bad versions lasted only 3 hours before npm removed them.
- Check your project files for those exact versions.
- Change to safe ones: 1.14.0 or 0.30.3.
- Delete and reinstall your packages.
- Change all passwords/keys.
Always lock exact versions in projects. Stay safe! 🔒
