Grub is KING

There is a new Open Source Unity-Style Game Engine ... but for ESP32 devices.

Deki Engine is an Apache 2.0 modular C++ 2D game engine with a visual editor for ESP32-S3 embedded devices, hitting 60 FPS on hardware.

Available for Linux.

Canadian internet users may soon have their data handed to US authorities, with no Canadian judge involved and no Canadian court order required.

That is the core of what Bill C-22 enables. Canada is negotiating a cross-border data-sharing agreement with the US that lets American law enforcement request information about Canadians directly from service providers, bypassing Canadian judicial oversight entirely.

And it does not stop there. C-22 also lets the Minister of Public Safety order companies to build encryption backdoors, and mandates that telecom and messaging platforms retain your metadata for up to a year, regardless of whether you are under any suspicion.

Is this not a sovereignty problem? A country that cannot protect its own citizens' digital lives from foreign law enforcement is not in control of its internet.

The bill has passed the House and is now in the Senate. The window to push back is closing fast.

If you are Canadian, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association has a petition. Use it please before it's too late.

Mirko Brombin is working to get Microsoft Office running reliably on Linux. He also thinks the apps cloning Office and Photoshop pixel for pixel cross a line. We talked about both, plus AI agents, Vanilla OS and his new Sinty OS.

Remember Picasa from the previous decade?

It was quite popular before Google killed it and replaced it with Google Photos.

Here is an open source image viewer for Linux that recreates the Picasa experience with modern file format support.

You can view HEIC, AVIF, JPEG XL, RAW previews, Motion Photos, and animated APNG.

Floating window and fullscreen modes, cropping, and export are also included.

@HonestCitizen1 @iamspiggle Not all drivers are built into kernel. Most are, but not all. And printer drivers are in user space.

[It's FOSS @Itsfoss]

Setting up printer in Linux can still be used as a free mental state check excercise.

It's here. Raven is now Open source!

A new Windows compatibility layer for Linux (and soon Mac OS). The website and code are now public alongside the whole story of the project, you can read about it here: https://t.co/4XFZtuSnIO

Waiting for your feedback, and please, be kind with it, it's young 🥹

You just made that up. Go back to your config files 😂

[Hyprland @hyprwm]

Hyprland is actually an acronym for High Yield Pixel Rendering Layer And Navigation Daemon

@iamspiggle Was testing a thermal printer. Cups recognized it without any effort but printing wasn't successful until I installed drivers.

@ayv4zyan Your prompting skills are surely better than me 😀

[It's FOSS @Itsfoss]

"ai prompts" are downloading a full fledged GUI office suite for editing documents? 🤔

Seems like an overkill to me. Thoughts on this people?

[gosip @rdev_x86]

@Itsfoss are you stupid or something? dont you know ai prompts download it for editing documents in his sandboxes?
