@AmericanAir Wasn't given that option nor was the plane full of luggage. As I said, others got on after I did with larger items/bags. Additionally I was first on the wait list for a first class seat, which was available but it was given to another customer once everyone was boarded.

Completely unacceptable service on @AmericanAir tonight. After running through DCA to get to my gate, was refused to allow me to take on my carry-on bag containing important medication that easily would fit underneath the seat in front of me while others with duffel bags could.
