@whorememberspod Is this from "The Day Today" have memories as a kid watching it, proper daft. Seems too silly to me to actually be serious 🤣 Sure you'll have seen it 🤣
@YesWeCrann I'd follow but ..... great to see you doing so well mate with something you're so knowledgeable & passionate about. Every fans dream to work with/for their club and fans!
@AlanPickard1889 I'd rather have Seriki carry on, it's soft for a pen. Holds him any longer then yeh. I hate those "fouls" anywhere on pitch. VAR should be a swear word, rather have shit refs than that pile of shite and never be able to celebrate a goal properly. Crap defending lost us game
@BigMick1889 If shoe was on other foot it would be hell. No way regardless of circumstances would I want relegating by Wednesday at Hillsborough. Makes me feel sick. Either an armchair fan or liar who says it doesnt matter to them
@TortosaExpat Prem attributes with his speed and athletism. Hes also become a decent defender & to top it off his final product usually finds someone in the box. Get em signed Blades!
This HAS got to happen. We were told this would change, but we are in the same place we were when Lunstrams pixilated big toe was offside in 2019 vs Spurs. It totally ruins the game. I'd genuinely rather lino get it wrong against my team and fans be able to celebrate properly.
“Football is currently at a crossroads; while the introduction of VAR was intended to correct 'clear and obvious' errors, it has inadvertently ushered in an era of 'microscopic officiating' that is draining the joy and spontaneity from the world’s most popular sport.”
Important letter sent to IFAB by broadcaster Dave Johnson urging Law-makers to adopt Arsene Wenger’s offside law (allowing daylight) to “protect the spirit of the game”. Johnson, who covers D.C. United in Major League Soccer, continues…
“The Problem: Accuracy at the Expense of Atmosphere. We have reached a point where goals - the most precious commodity in football - are being disallowed because a player’s toe, elbow, or armpit is a millimeter ahead of a defender. These 'toenail offsides' do not reflect the spirit of the Law, which was originally designed to prevent goal hanging' and unfair advantages.
"In the current climate: Strikers are penalized for being faster or better positioned by margins invisible to the human eye. Fans are hesitant to celebrate, waiting for a three-minute geometry lesson on a screen rather than reacting to the beauty of a goal. The 'benefit of the doubt' - historically given to the attacker - has been effectively abolished.
“The Solution: The Wenger Proposal. The proposed change - stating that a player is onside if any part of their body that can score a goal is level with the second-last defender - is the logical evolution of the game. By requiring a 'clear daylight' gap between the attacker and the defender for an offside offense to occur, we return the advantage to the attacking side. This would virtually eliminate the agonizing delays caused by drawing pixelated lines to determine if a player’s shoelace was offside.
“A Historic Precedent: The Lessons of Italia 90. This would not be the first time the IFAB has acted to save the game from stagnation. Following the 1990 World Cup in Italy - a tournament marred by defensive cynicism and a record-low goals-per-game average - the IFAB showed great courage by: amending the offside Law (1990), declaring an attacker 'level' as onside and introducing the back-pass rule (1992), forcing goalkeepers to use their feet.
“Those changes revolutionized the sport, leading to the high-tempo, attacking football we have enjoyed for the last three decades. We find ourselves at a similar tipping point today. The game has become too clinical, and the balance has tilted too far in favor of the defending team and the video booth.
“Conclusion: Football is a game of emotion, not a game of millimeters. I urge the IFAB to prioritize the 'spirit of the game' over the 'perfection of the technology'. Adopting the Wenger proposal will restore the flow of the match, encourage attacking intent, and ensure fans remain at the heart of the experience. It is time to let the players play and the fans celebrate once again."
Femi Seriki will play for someone in the prem. Natural talent physically and forward play you can't teach. Definitely some coaching needed in certain aspects and a few lapses, but experience will sort. Him & O'Hare my favourite players of season by far #sufc#twitterblades
@The_Bladesman We've got to get another man higher up the pitch. I didnt mind the fluid 4 as wilder calls is or back 5 to start with but its hardly made us more solid so its time for a change and attempt to score a few more.
@pjridders For me it all stems from covid season, been so close to getting Europe and snatched away no been able to watch us play. Then 2 in 3 seasons been so so bad its unreal. Apathy has already set in for me and can see this season been a real slog if something doesnt change soon.
On a brighter note, Tom Davies is the only player who can carry the ball out our own half and make decent forward passes. Could be a big player for us, but how many times have we been here 🤔 the use of both feet is also a breath of fresh air #sufc#twitterblades
This, this is one of the worst things in the game. Why can't refs see it. Would love to see one like this get a play on and the attacking team score. Would soon stop it. Lazy reffing and supports players basically cheating.
But, the worst of the worst are when a defender has the ball in front of him facing his goal, feels the breath of an attacker on his neck and lobs himself down and refs fall for it every single fuckin time. Not the lad last night tho, that in Ogbene was assault #sufc 2/2
Even after the worst refereeing performance for a while, still don't want VAR in EFL. The grappling fouls given on corners are a joke as well, just let em get on with it. Refs can't wait to give a foul. 1/2 #sufc#twitterblades
