@JennyAscendant@itsafrogslife@AmandaF20074538 Parkrun has been very firm in its unwavering support for inclusion and minority participation. The research and consultations show that its current path is the right one. Its critics might be noisy and prominent, but I'm not too worried about them swaying Parkrun or Parkunners.
@Chablislodge@mara_yamauchi It started using a time trial format. Over the years it has evolved into the non-competitive community event it is now. This inclusive format has been how it's grown into a global public health initiative serving millions of people
@HallisseyC@immaggi@crit_gen It's not a problem for most people. Millions have registered for Parkrun, with only a vanishingly small group raising the issue so far.
Sound adviceโIโm tempted to do the same. A small, noisy group of people seem determined to tear Parkrun down, yet have gained little real backing. Itโs frustrating to see them claim to speak for women while pushing protests that many view as divisive, harmful and unrepresentative
To those who have Dm'd me here or FB wrt "the parkrun thing" the past couple of years, thank you for the support. It's a shame so many have been too afraid to speak out for fear of retaliation. Note I won't be following it any more. There's no engagement, and it's a time sink.
