This 'hate march' gambit is an age old classic? As if every call for peace is just a thinly veiled fist, itching for a fight. But let's unpack that, shall we?
History is a great teacher, Ms. Braverman, yet you seem to have been playing truant when the lessons on British values were imparted. Decency, a term so beloved by your statement, is the very foundation of these isles – it's about fair play, standing up for the underdog, and, let's not forget, a spot of tea and sympathy for those who need it. The British didn't stand up against the blitz with hate, but with a staunch resolve for peace and justice. Is the request for a ceasefire, a plea for a moment of silence amidst the clamor of bombs, not in keeping with those very traditions?
Twisting narratives is a neat trick, indeed, and one could almost admire the contortionist logic that labels a march for peace as 'extremist'. It begs the question, though: If a call for armistice is 'thuggish intimidation', then what do we call raining down hellfire on a strip of land so beleaguered, its skies are more iron than blue? It's the grand paradox of the age, pleading for peace, yet being painted as a villain.
It's easy to wag a finger at a 'hate march' when the term is as elastic as the truth on a politician's lips. Yet, it takes real courage to stand up and say that maybe, just maybe, the narrative being peddled is as hollow as a drum. Maybe those marching aren't fueled by hate, but by a heart-wrenching empathy for a people who know the price of war all too well.
So, let's ask the real question, when did the cry for peace become a war cry? When did the olive branch of a ceasefire turn into a weapon? And if calling for an end to violence is extremism, then, pray tell, what counts as decency?

Impressive: Jewish activists and allies, led by Jewish Voice for Peace, take over the Statue of Liberty.
Activists send a message is to reject genocidal violence against the people of Gaza in the name of the Jews and an immediate ceasefire.

Beware of any reporting out of Gaza in which news organizations are embedded with the IDF as CNN and ABC just did. They’re not allowed to release or broadcast any of it without the IDF signing off on it which is not journalism. It’s propaganda.
