Xdinary Heroesโ GUNIL shares a final message following his departure from the group:
โHello, Villains. This is Gunil.
This may be my last greeting to you as a member of Xdinary Heroes.
I truly wanted to remain a member of Xdinary Heroes until the very end, and I wanted to protect the six-member Xdinary Heroes. However, as you know, I have no choice but to accept the companyโs decision.
Even now, it still doesnโt feel real to me.
There is so much I want to say to Villains. I still donโt know where or how to begin. But since I am no longer a member of Xdinary Heroes, I donโt want to hide facts or make excuses for my own sake. I believe there are things I need to tell you myself, which is why I am writing this.
First, the person who wrote the post that started this situation was someone I met through an acquaintance and dated for about two weeks.
At the time, I was mentally exhausted from continued malicious comments and false stories about me, as well as various concerns regarding Xdinary Heroesโ music and performances. Rather than burdening people close to me by opening up about how I felt, I found it easier to share my frustrations with a stranger who didnโt know me well.
The person who made the inappropriate remarks about fans in the phone recording that was made public to Villains was me. Regardless of the circumstances, the fact that I said those things does not change. I sincerely apologize to everyone who was disappointed or hurt by my words.
However, I want to honestly explain the circumstances and emotions I was experiencing at the time, as well as who those words were directed toward.
Earlier this year, sasaeng fans broke into our dorm, and someone even attached a tracking device to my personal vehicle and followed me around. After experiencing things like this, I developed a lot of fear and resentment toward certain malicious fans, and I went through a very difficult period emotionally.
However, as the leader and one of the older members, I felt that I couldnโt easily talk about my fears or anxiety. I tried my best to manage my emotions on my own.
Then, in June, the members and I prepared for the Inspire Arena concert with the mindset that we wanted to give Villains the best performance possible. We worked incredibly hard, and after finishing the first day of the concert, I checked social media with anticipation.
Of course, no performance can be perfect, and I believe we should acknowledge our shortcomings and continue improving. However, that day, I saw many malicious posts that went beyond opinions or criticism of the performance and were difficult for us to understand.
Because we had put our hearts into preparing for that concert, seeing the unexpected criticism and malicious comments caused me to become emotionally overwhelmed.
At the same time, I didnโt want to worry the company staff or the members, so I couldnโt easily share how I was feeling. Eventually, I opened up to someone I had only recently met and, in the process, said things that were far too harsh and wrong.
I never expected that conversation to be recorded and made public. However, regardless of whether it was made public, I fully understand that saying those things was wrong.
There is one thing I want to make absolutely clear.
The people I was referring to when I spoke emotionally at the time were certain malicious fans who hid behind anonymity to indiscriminately attack us or invade our privacy. I was never referring to all Villains who trusted and supported us.
I had always tried to show you the image of a sincere and dependable leader, so I believe the disappointment and sense of betrayal you felt because of this incident must have been even greater. I am truly sorry for that.
Around the time of the June Inspire concert, I was going through a difficult period emotionally for various reasons. I also met that person around that time, and it is true that I relied on them to some extent while I was struggling.
I understand that this may sound like an excuse. But I want to make it clear that I was never saying those things about the Villains I genuinely loved and trusted.
It would also be a lie to say that I never had any frustrations with the members, whom I lived and worked with every day and with whom I shared many parts of my personal lives. However, I can say without any shame that throughout my time as a member of Xdinary Heroes, I genuinely cared for and loved the members, and I was always grateful for the love Villains gave us.
The members were always people I was proud of, and Villains were always people I was grateful for.
Now, I no longer have a way to prove that, nor will I have the opportunity to rebuild the trust that has been broken, even once. Still, I wanted to say one last time that my feelings toward the fans and the members were always sincere.
I believe the fans who have been with me for a long time, the staff and employees I worked with, the members I love, and my close friends and acquaintances know best how sincerely I loved the fans and the members.
Lastly, I sincerely want to apologize to my fans, who I believe have been hurt the most by this situation.
What hurts me the most is knowing that the countless hours and emotions you gave me to support me, as well as the moments when you trusted me, may now feel meaningless and wasted to you.
Ultimately, I have left a wound that may not be easy for you to erase, just as you loved me. It is incredibly painful to know that the people I love and care about are suffering because of me.
Even now, none of this feels real, and I feel as though I am living through a nightmare. If this is how I feel, I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult this must be for the fans.
I am truly sorry.
I know that saying Iโm sorry cannot fully express the hurt I have caused or undo it.
Fan sign events, fan meetings, concerts, overseas tours, festivalsโฆ I remember so many moments I shared with Villains.
Thank you sincerely for giving me so much love and so many memories throughout all those years. I will never forget the love you gave me or the memories we shared.
Thank you sincerely for loving and supporting someone as imperfect as me.
Although I was unable to give you a beautiful ending, thanks to Villains, I leave with so many happy moments from my life that I will never forget.
Although I am leaving Xdinary Heroes now, I will never forget the love and support you gave to me as Gunil.
And wherever I may be in the future, I will also continue to support your lives forever.
I would be grateful if you could continue to love and support Xdinary Heroes.
The five members are all wonderful, admirable, and lovable younger brothers to me, without exception.
Although I will no longer be able to fulfill our dream of performing together at Wembley, I will now step back and support them from behind, hoping that they can achieve that dream someday.
I poured everything I had into Xdinary Heroes and Villains. I truly loved it all, and I loved you all.
Thank you for sharing my youth with me.
This was Gunil. Thank you.โ
