A rest day: I wandered up to #Rashaya Citadel (with views of Mt Hermon).

In 1943 French authorities imprisoned Lebanese national leaders here. The day they were released, 22 Nov, is celebrated as Independence Day.

I arrive at #راشيا , an oasis of colour on the sun-scorched foothills of Mt Hermon.

Rashaya/Rachaya/Rashaiya/Rashayya/Rachaiya is famous for its cobbled streets, ceramic tiles, jewellery, flowers & honey.
