Still reflecting on the incredible experience at the 6th PAFLAR Congress.
From insightful sessions to meaningful conversations, it was inspiring to see experts, researchers, and advocates come together with one shared goal, improving paediatric rheumatology care across Africa.
Continued education, advocacy, and public awareness are key to ensuring that children receive timely care and the opportunity to live healthier, fuller lives.
Together, we can build a future where paediatric rheumatology care is accessible to all.
This congress has created an important platform for learning, collaboration, and advocacy in paediatric rheumatology across Africa and the conversation is only growing louder — and more urgent. 🌍💚
✨ Collaboration between healthcare professionals, organizations, and communities
At the heart of it all is a powerful reminder: awareness remains essential. Too many children still go undiagnosed or untreated simply because these conditions are not widely recognized.
Day 2 of the 6th PAFLAR Congress is in full swing! The energy in the room is electric as brilliant minds continue to connect, collaborate, and champion better care for children with rheumatic diseases across Africa. The work continues. 🩺

💜 Lupus is real, misunderstood, and affecting more children than many realize.
This year, PAFLAR commemorated World Lupus Day by raising awareness about the myths surrounding lupus and the silent battles faced daily by both patients and medical practitioners.
Some of the powerful insights from the discussion included:
-Lupus does occur in Black people.
-In children, it can present with very worrying symptoms that are easily overlooked.
-In many tropical regions, lupus symptoms are often mistaken for malaria, delaying diagnosis
