🚨WHO FUNDED CARE4CALAIS’S BRAINTREE DROP-IN? 🚨

Care4Calais received £3,948 on 18 September 2025 through Essex Community Foundation for a weekly wellbeing and support drop-in in Braintree for migrants from RAF Wethersfield.

At the same time, Essex Community Foundation was running the Braintree District and Eastlight Community Fund, established by @BraintreeDC Braintree District Council and Eastlight Community Homes.

That fund was specifically for organisations working within the Braintree district, including projects around loneliness, social isolation and emotional health and wellbeing.

Applications closed on 18 August 2025.

Exactly one month later, on 18 September 2025, Care4Calais received £3,948 for a Braintree wellbeing drop-in.

That still does not prove the money came from the Braintree District and Eastlight Community Fund — but the overlap is obvious enough that residents deserve a clear answer.

I’ve now submitted an FOI to Braintree District Council and contacted Essex Community Foundation asking whether BDC money, Eastlight funding or that specific community fund contributed to the grant.

It should be a simple question:

YES or NO — did this funding come from the Braintree District and Eastlight Community Fund?

We know what the money was for.

We know where the project was based.

We know when it was awarded.

Now we need to know WHO paid for it.
