Like a lot of teenagers who got into making electronic music, Aphex Twin was our idol. No one has been able to even come close to replicating his songs, because they are so intricate and difficult to figure out. I used to spend days and days trying to recreate a pad or synth or melody from his tunes -- a good learning exercise -- but it was mostly hopeless.
