If someone told me 3 years ago, while I was waitressing to help my family stay afloat, that in a few short years an unhinged President of the United States would be repeatedly saying my name at the 2020 debate, I would’ve brought them some water and told them to sober up.
Republicans won’t bat an eye over Donald Trump being $421 million in debt to potentially shady characters, but throw a tantrum over unemployed workers getting $600 a week to feed their families and pay rent during a pandemic.
These jarring photos from my staff in Oregon show you just how dire the situation is right now. Our state is being pummeled by life-threatening fires and smoke. Entire communities have lost their homes or are prepared to. Ignoring the climate crisis is threatening lives.
"Would cable news hosts devote the same nonstop coverage to fires as they do for hurricanes if more of their executives woke up each morning to falling ash? Would more lawmakers care if it looked like this outside the Capitol at high noon?" https://t.co/vrflfQL75W
I just found a bottle of @PolarSeltzer under my bed that’s been there for god knows how long and this shit is still first day fresh. That’s some carbonation.
Imagine waking up one day to discover that all your google searches for the last month have also been posted to your socials. Wow weeee. #whatdoyougoogle#itsgrosshuh
Yup this. Skills are something we learn and grow into. That learning can be hard and create anxiety. Let’s hold some space for those learning cause really we all are.
To students starting school today,
Please be nice to your teachers. My dad is 53 years old, and not a whiz w technology. He’s called me EVERY day, attempting to practice because he’s so nervous and wants what’s best for his students.
Please be patient with them. They’re trying.
I too am running for President in 2020. If the last 4 years have taught us anything it’s that a celebrity with no experience is exactly what we need in the White House, so let’s split the vote some further and make this even more of a joke than it already is. #BOBBY2020
Our great Public Advocate @JumaaneWilliams:
“I think there was an error. We said take $1 billion from the NYPD NOT the Dept of Ed, you got the wrong memo! The $$ we take from the NYPD is supposed to go to places like the DOE.”
@NYCMayor @NYCSpeakerCoJo
Extending unemployment benefits for workers is about saving jobs and livelihoods. It’s time for Republicans to put the welfare of workers above their partisan games and extend this much-needed lifeline for workers.
In 2014, after being named Teacher of the Year, my supervisor told me if I said I was gay in public I would be "shot in the head."
I was told I would be fired if I did not bring her all of my private mail from home to read. (more)
The US government could have paid everyone $2000/month to stay home until the pandemic dried out, or cancel rent and mortgage payments so we could just stay home, but they chose to do nothing because it is more valuable to make sure we still fight each other for life-giving Work.
