@Anon_Noticer@altfoxb@TasnimAt54b What a proud moment for Pakistan Navy. May the new Hangor class submarines live up to their proud legacy established by Sir @TasnimAt54b and his indomitable crew.
@altfoxb@TasnimAt54b They operate external combustion chambers at higher pressures than ambient sea water pressure calibrated to the subs depth. Modern subs just discharge exhaust via one way valves into the cooling water flow to dissolve the exhaust into sea water and minimize their signature.
It was the same arrangement in Soviet era, engine from Ukraine and airframe manufacturing plus final assembly in Russia. Ukraine never manufactured Mi-17s to my knowledge. During Soviet era the Ukrainian Aerospace Sector was primarily tasked with manufacturing heavy transport aircraft (Antonov series).
To my knowledge Kazan doesn't have a subsidiary in Ukraine. The Ukrainian industrial link in the supply chain was derived from Motor Sich which used to manufacture the engine for the Mi-17 until Russian annexation of Crimea. While Ukrainian expertise in engine manufacturing and MRO of Mi-17 air frames is well documented, manufacturing was in Russia.

@tariq_puma@SubhanJaved911 Washington post had reported that the Americans procured Mi17s directly from Russia. Ukraine contributed to MRO and late on these helis were transferred from ANA to Ukraine.

Sir I agree that the Nasr and similar systems have plugged the perceived gap for limited conventional ops under the nuclear shadow to complete the full spectrum deterrence picture. However Gen Kidwai has repeatedly been quite explicit while mapping out the vertical dimension of FSD (from zero metre up to 2,750 km) and clearly delineating a tactical nuclear niche with yields scaled for strategic, operational and tactical domains. Official ISPR statements obviously would avoid the term tactical nuclear weapon, but the repeated clarifications by Gen Kidwai leave little doubt that we do see a role for them in FSD. However that role obviously isn't static as the nuc threshold keeps rising as our conventional strike capabilities are being refined with initiatives like PARFC.
@tariq_puma@SubhanJaved911 Sir I think we get the engines and spares from Ukraine in exchange for ammunition manufactured by POF for their war effort. Fun fact... We got a few overhauled Mi-17s from the US though primary supplier is Russia.
