@HomicidalGrouse @stacycay @surman4schools Notice that the emphasis here is at "cease all programs that promote the concept of sex and gender transition," and is *supplemented* by 'at any age,' which contradicts your interpretation.
@pocketbell4649@LillyByteGames I'm still not clear on how any of this is damaging to the project.
From my point of view:
Either leadership deserves the criticism, so resolving the problems will help Godot's future,
or
the criticism is undeserved, therefore inconsequential.
@pocketbell4649@LillyByteGames PR's and github issues are for resolving problems with the project; they wouldn't help with meta (despite the tag) problems like leadership, direction, or philosophy.
Those things are changed through public and constant discourse.
@pocketbell4649 I don't feel I've wasted my time.
I /could/ read old issues to refresh my memory, but,
Like I said, I'm not very opinionated on core-devs; I just find your dismissive approach to these criticisms to be odd.
I don't have a reason to feel strongly about Godot's leaders. Do you?
@pocketbell4649 My rambling aside,
Unfortunately I don't keep tabs of when I read something odd on github, discord, reddit, or rocket, nor of every person who may or may not say something odd, nor of every .cpp that looks a bit strange.
All I can say is: It happened, I can't speak to how often.
@pocketbell4649 Many issues creep upon those who avoid talking about potentials and hypotheticals; those are the domains of most problems, but especially problems which cause grievous harm, and cannot be mitigated.
One should anticipate injury, not hope it may heal.
@pocketbell4649 Or, I shouldn't say 'rejections,' more-so 'aversions.' But I can't speak to anything more than it "seeming" odd.
I'm only here because I find it odd to assume ill-will when someone wants to discuss something they think is harmful.
@pocketbell4649 I have no real opinion on leadership. I'm a user, not a contributor, mostly for lack of relevant skill.
The most I can say is that I've seen many odd rejections even with Godot 4; and the parts of the engine I'm most interested in, seem to be ancient, and petrifying to everyone.
@pocketbell4649@LillyByteGames For an open-source project & its community to adapt and thrive, would it not be /beneficial/ to address things that harm it? -- even if those things come from deep inside the project or community?
Leaders are important; they can make or break a project and its community.
@pocketbell4649@LillyByteGames For the sake of argument -- assume that LillyByte's criticisms are entirely correct.
Isn't strong-headed leaders making poor decisions something to be concerned about?
If leadership is harming the project & community, wouldn't instability - change - be beneficial?
@ooOPizzaHeadOoo It very much sounds to me like a driver issue -- who knows to what degree. I /might/ pull out my 7800 GT and see what I can find; but Nvidia vs ATI is a tricky slope to walk.
@ooOPizzaHeadOoo That is an impressively old card!
It's odd that it doesn't run, though -- my GT 620 at least ran Godot, and was usable for Godot 3.
Godot 4 primarily uses Vulkan, but it now has a GL backend, which should kick-in automatically... I'm not sure if there's a way to force it.
@LillyByteGames It seems the whole blog website is inaccessible... that doesn't bode well.
I'm curious about it, but I think I shouldn't go looking around.
@LillyByteGames@sh4na Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Remi currently in charge of the foundation at large?
For the past 2 or so years, it seems to me that Juan isn't really a big part of Godot, but Remi still seems to be around.
Though the people I see most often are Calinou and A Thousand Ships.
@DCAnonBro For Unity to maintain the same feature, it would have to evaluate if that feature has a benefit to revenue growth that is proportionally superior to the cost of paying its developers to work on it, AND NOT work on something else. For Unity, it's either/or, never both.
@nimblebucket OH! YOU MEANT /THAT/ ROTATION!
I was so confused — I thought you were talking about a rolling log sort of deal.
I'll replicate this on my end and see what I can find.
