@IBEDC_NG@IBEDC_NG The Ijagba 33kV feeder has been out since Sunday due to collapsed high-tension poles. Yet your latest report attributes it to TCN load shedding. The Ota Business Hub confirmed collapsed high-tension poles and is still awaiting replacement poles from HQ. Why the lies????
@TheGridPost@IBEDC_NG Itโs been 4days since 33kV high-tension poles on the Ijagba feeder collapsed, leaving customers without electricity. The Ota Business Hub says they are still waiting for headquarters to release the replacement poles. Why is such a critical repair being delayed?
@IBEDC_NG There has been a prolonged outage affecting the Ijagba 33 kV feeder in ota,due to collapsed high-tension poles. You guys have refused to address and do something about it since on Sunday, you guys refuse to include it in your report this is totally unfair & unprofessional
May we not use our hands to buy problems because of shortcut ooo
Because tell me why all of you are now boiling your egg and rice at the same time.
Alot of people are actually guilty of this.

The Trump Administration has aggressively joined the international chorus calling for the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, to immediately resign, and this highly coordinated political bullying is directly and intimately connected to the ongoing, devastating US-Iran war.
To see this, understand that from a purely objective and European point of view, Starmer is actually operating as a dream prime minister for the British people. Before Starmer captured Downing Street, the immigration crisis was an absolute, chaotic nightmare for previous Conservative governments, but under Starmer's strict borders, tight regulations, and heavy policing, net migration has plummeted by a staggering 80 percent. Even the highly publicized energy crisis that right-wing MAGA fanboys and hostile foreign media outlets are desperately using to mock, humiliate, and politically profile Starmer is nowhere near as terrible as they deceitfully make it out to look.
Starmer's government has systematically laid the solid, long-term groundwork for total British energy independence by launching Great British Energy with a massive $8.3 billion in initial public capital. The pioneering projects being aggressively initiated by this state-owned company include the massive installation of solar panels on public schools, local hospitals, government offices, and municipal buildings to drastically lower energy bills for public services. Furthermore, it was under Keir Starmer's administration that the UK government consented to the nation's largest-ever utility-scale solar projects, expedited planning approvals for offshore wind farms, and signed historic commercial contracts for the UK's first fleet of advanced Small Modular Reactors in North Wales, all as part of his ambitious green industrial blueprint to generate over 400,000 high-paying, clean-energy jobs by 2030.
So, Keir Starmer is actually pulling the United Kingdom in the right direction in terms of decisively handling the exact same immigration, inflation, and energy crises that severely plagued the country before his regime. Therefore, we can obviously, logically conclude that it is his independent, highly defiant handling of the US-Iran war, and absolutely not his domestic performance, that has forced Washington's imperial planners to aggressively push for his immediate resignation.
Recall that during the terrifying height of the US-Iran war, Starmer consistently, repeatedly, and firmly denied the United States permission to use sovereign British military bases, deepwater ports, and remote island airfields as an aggressive staging ground for Washington to launch devastating airstrikes against Iran. Even when Starmer eventually bowed to intense diplomatic pressure, economic threats, and backroom leverage to allow the US limited access to their bases, he strictly, legally mandated that it was for a defensive posture alone. Obviously, Washington is now desperately trying to clean up this geopolitical mess because, in future military warfare, maritime blockades, and oil-rig operations in the Persian Gulf, the American war machine simply cannot afford to deal with an uncooperative, sovereign-minded, and unpredictable British prime minister.
This is absolutely not the first time that the American think tanks in Washington have aggressively pushed for regime change, political sabotage, and backroom coups even against their most loyal, submissive ally nations. Recall that during the chaotic Arab Spring, the long-serving leaders who were violently uprooted from their offices by CIA-backed mobs and foreign-funded organizations were actually deeply, pathetically loyal to America. They had happily opened the doors to Western oil majors, flooded their domestic markets with European goods, dismantled their own local manufacturing industries, and eagerly implemented punishing IMF structural adjustment programmes. But obviously, none of this pathetic subservience is ever truly enough to prove ultimate, eternal loyalty to the global empire headquartered in Washington D.C.
The very second you begin to enact any independent policies that put the survival, the energy bills, and the economic wellbeing of your own citizens over the massive profit margins of American defense contractors, Wall Street bankers, and multinational oil majors, they will immediately come for your office, destroy your reputation, and organize your political execution.
No, please stop!
This is highly misleading, incredibly dishonest, and completely disrespectful to the legacy of the great Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, who effectively dedicated his entire life, his immense intellectual brilliance, and his journalistic platforms to fiercely fighting British imperialism, colonial exploitation, and the non-negotiable independence of the Nigerian state.
First, it is crucially important to emphasize that Azikiwe did not assume office as President on October 1st, 1960, because that specific executive title did not exist anywhere in the constitution on the day he was sworn in. Instead, he was sworn in merely as the Governor-General of Nigeria, representing the British crown. This is because even though Nigeria was theoretically granted independence, that initial, so-called independence was largely symbolic and strictly conditional. The Nigerian military, the federal police, and all high-ranking public officials were still mandated by law to swear absolute allegiance to Queen Elizabeth II, our local judges suffered the exact same subservient fate, and we did not even have a purely independent Supreme Court, as the British Privy Council stubbornly remained the final court of appeal.
So yes, it is historically true that Nnamdi Azikiwe did swear a ceremonial oath of allegiance to serve the British monarch when he came to power, but that was strictly because it was the only constitutionally viable pathway through which he could have captured power at that moment. Mind you, even to this very day, every single prime minister and governor-general in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand is still legally mandated to take this exact same oath of allegiance to the British crown. This is because, even though they are fully sovereign, wealthy, and independent states, the head of the British monarchy is still legally considered the ceremonial Head of State in those nations, just as it was in Nigeria in 1960 immediately after our highly symbolic independence.
Secondly, even though Azikiwe took that ceremonial oath of allegiance, he was absolutely not a puppet governor-general or a spineless figurehead in any way. He relentlessly continued publishing powerful Pan-African thoughts, anti-colonial essays, and revolutionary critiques in his famous, widely circulated newspaper, the West African Pilot. He aggressively continued his radical publications, public lectures, and revolutionary speeches, which provided the ultimate intellectual catalyst for the massive nationalist movement to transition Nigeria from a British dominion into a purely independent, sovereign republic.
Just three years later, through the combined political efforts of Nigerian regional premiers and leaders like Michael Okpara, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, and Samuel Akintola, a historic conference was convened in June 1963 in Lagos to debate, negotiate, and agree on the final, non-negotiable terms of this transition championed by Azikiwe.
In September 1963, the House of Representatives and the Senate officially debated, voted on, and passed the historic Constitution of the Federation Bill, and on October 1st, 1963, as the Governor-General, Azikiwe proudly signed that bill into law.
This monumentally significant act effectively, permanently removed Queen Elizabeth II as the ceremonial Head of State, severed the jurisdiction of the British Privy Council, and completely abolished the humiliating requirement for Nigerian soldiers, police officers, judges, and politicians to take any oath of allegiance to the British monarch.
It was under these brand-new, sovereign laws passed by our own Parliament that he was officially sworn in as the first President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, finally pledging his absolute allegiance solely to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, its sovereign citizens, and its supreme constitution.
Yes, it is tragically true that the collective West, the CIA, and international financial institutions are still operating shadow governments, running neocolonial pipelines, and manipulating local policies in Nigeria today.
But make no mistake: if not for the strategic, constitutional groundwork laid by Azikiwe, our geopolitical situation today would have been infinitely, catastrophically worse.
It is undeniably true that Azikiwe did not miraculously take Nigeria to the highest glory of rapid industrialization, and we obviously cannot compare him to uncompromising, armed icons like Thomas Sankara in terms of radical, boots-on-the-ground revolutionary struggles for absolute sovereignty. But that does not mean he did not devote his entire earthly existence to the complete independence of Nigeria, just as Kwame Nkrumah passionately devoted his to Ghana's sovereignty. In fact, the only major theoretical difference between Azikiwe and Nkrumah is that Nkrumah went significantly further in developing the structural concept of neocolonialism. He brilliantly argued that Western European powers were merely giving up direct, expensive political control only to seamlessly replace it with invisible, highly exploitative economic control through multinational corporations, global banking cartels, and rigged international trade agreements.
Azikiwe should absolutely not be disrespected, dismissed, or historically slandered in this careless way simply because he strategically took a highly intellectual, journalistic, and constitutional approach toward Pan-Africanism.
Mao Zedong was a fierce, relentless, and brilliant revolutionary warlord, but he was historically terrible at macroeconomics, agricultural planning, and industrial management. This is exactly where Deng Xiaoping stepped in to implement pragmatic market reforms, open up trade, and bring China directly into the global spotlight.
Even on this very platform, where we are actively engaged in a fierce ideological fight against American imperialism, neocolonialism, and Western information warfare, we all do it differently, write in unique styles, and convey our thoughts in distinct ways. No single individual in history has ever been, or will ever be, the sole scholar, philosopher, warlord, and economist of any successful revolutionary movement.
You ask me why I completely refuse to support Omoyele Sowore, why I do not use my platform to at least amplify his Take It Back movement, and why I blatantly refuse to show a single atom of solidarity to his highly televised fight against state oppression in Nigeria.
First, it is important to emphasize that Sowore is not working for the genuine good, the economic liberation, or the political salvation of ordinary Nigerians. I know this might seem deeply counterintuitive since he is perpetually in the glaring media spotlight, constantly holding public demonstrations against police brutality, always boldly calling out corrupt politicians, and aggressively shouting "Revolution Now" which are all highly attractive, textbook left-wing causes. But if you are smart enough to ignore all of this loud, orchestrated theatrical noise and strictly follow the money, you will rapidly recognize that Sowore is heavily, systematically funded by CIA-linked organizations such as the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy, the Omidyar Network, and the MacArthur Foundation. In fact, from 2012 till date, Sowore has quietly received up to a staggering $4 million in hard foreign currency grants from these exact American organizations.
Now, if you think that this is something minor, a mere administrative coincidence, or something to be politely overlooked, please permit me to enlighten you that these specific organizations are the most ruthless and highly coordinated American intelligence cartels in the world. Every single high-ranking board member of these organizations practically holds a doctorate degree in regime change operations, psychological warfare, and economic sabotage. This is exactly how they operate: they first meticulously profile their target victim nation and then mercilessly infiltrate their local media houses, their university student unions, and their vocal political activists through highly conditional grants, lucrative journalism fellowships, sponsored media awards, heavily funded civil society workshops, fake grassroots initiatives, and deeply weaponized human rights campaigns.
Now you may naturally be tempted to ask a very logical question: why exactly is the CIA spending almost $4 million to heavily pay a guy to constantly criticize, insult, and hold massive public demonstrations against the exact same puppet politicians they secretly funded and comfortably installed in power? Well, this is strictly because this is exactly how the CIA brilliantly operates. The American intelligence apparatus has been aggressively funding both left-wing and right-wing causes since time immemorial. This is mainly because if there is absolutely one critical lesson that the Imperialists learned from the bloody era of chattel slavery, it is that you can absolutely never, ever allow the people you are actively oppressing to be genuinely united. The brutalized slaves in the Dominican Republic and Haiti were mercilessly beaten, collectively starved, chained, and worked to absolute death, but the brightest voices among them got thoroughly educated, wrote brilliant revolutionary manifestoes, drafted profound constitutions, created a highly functional socialist government system, organized a coordinated revolution to fight off the brutal colonizers, and practically outmatched Napoleon's legendary military machine with superior guerrilla tactics to permanently establish the sovereign Kingdom of Haiti.
It is precisely to violently preempt, hijack, and subdue these fierce, organic, and highly lethal uprisings that the CIA funds both sides of a political movement so that they can absolutely control the entire political tempo of their captured vassal states. This is because so long as the loudest opposition forces are all resting comfortably deep inside their pockets through endless dollar grants, the Imperialists have absolutely nothing to worry about. They will comfortably allow these noisy public demonstrations to happen just enough to serve as a perfectly controlled pressure release valve for the oppressed, exhausted people to safely release their righteous anger, their frustrations, and their bitter tears, but the protest will always be expertly controlled, corralled, and heavily policed in such a way that absolutely nothing structural, threatening, or genuinely revolutionary ever comes out of it.
Sowore has been perfectly executing this exact playbook in Nigeria for years, and I must painfully confess, he is spectacularly good at his job. You see him almost every single day loudly calling for a total revolution on social media. Should any major tragedy happen in the country, such as massive school abductions, bloody civilian casualties in Northern Nigeria, or a sudden hike in fuel prices, the very next morning Sowore is miraculously already in Abuja with his dedicated team, with high-definition cameras perfectly arranged, holding highly aesthetic public demonstrations. You see him on all his heavily optimized social media platforms loudly calling for the angry masses to come out and join his righteous protest against incompetence and bad governance. Now, here is the absolute genius of the trap. If the people simply refuse to join him, ignore his calls, and sit at home, then he has massively won because his foreign paymasters are heavily bankrolling him strictly to pacify, dilute, and squash any organic revolutionary movements in Nigeria. Now, if the exhausted people actually decide to step up, hit the streets, and join his team, this is also another brilliant, inescapable trap. Since it is his branded protest, he absolutely dictates exactly how long it will last, he dictates the physical intensity, he controls the official messaging, he handpicks the designated media spokespersons, he negotiates the inevitable stand-down with the police, and he ultimately decides exactly when everybody should pack up their placards and quietly go home. And at the end of the day, he has completely, successfully hijacked what could have been a serious, regime-threatening protest, and this is exactly what he is being heavily funded in foreign dollars to do.
Furthermore, the sheer ridiculous intensity at which he constantly calls for these protests and revolutions is also another highly calculated psychological angle that raises serious red flags. He aggressively calls for nationwide protests, mass action, and public demonstrations over any and every single minor thing that happens in the country. Even if he manages to get a small, passionate following around him, at some point, these regular people will naturally become severely emotionally exhausted, deeply fatigued, and eventually completely convinced that Nigeria can absolutely no longer be liberated. Again, this is not an accident. This happens precisely because Sowore has deliberately exhausted them emotionally, physically, and politically, which is exactly what his foreign paymasters pay him heavily to do: manufacture total protest fatigue.
Now, you must deeply understand that Nigeria is actively under economic and political occupation by the trans-Atlantic empire, and these ruthless globalists have carefully selected our spineless leaders for us. They have strictly handed them vicious economic policies that guarantee our massive natural resources continue to violently flow absolutely uninterrupted to Western capitals. For this exact reason, there will always be organic public anger, and it is for this exact reason that the CIA, whose primary job is to aggressively defend the financial interests of these multinational conglomerates controlling this empire, absolutely has to heavily fund the loudest opposition movements. They know that protests must inevitably happen, so they urgently have to put their own heavily compromised people at the absolute frontlines to make sure they dictate the tempo of the outrage, pacify the mob, and ultimately protect their obedient puppets sitting in Aso Rock.
This is exactly why you see Sowore miraculously always having infinite financial resources to organize massive, branded protests almost weekly, effortlessly afford all the exorbitant legal fees whenever he is theatrically arrested by authorities, fly a massive entourage across the country, maintain highly polished media outlets, run extensive PR campaigns, print thousands of customized banners, and comfortably pay exorbitant bail conditions without ever breaking a sweat.
Finally, this is absolutely not to imply that Sowore does not have any truth to whatever he says. In fact, I completely agree with him on many of his loud criticisms, but make no mistake: this is still a highly scripted, perfectly rehearsed performance. The CIA deeply understands human psychology. They know that if their local actors only lie, lie, and constantly lie, absolutely nobody will ever listen to them. So, these agents are actively allowed, encouraged, and even trained to boldly say the truth, and genuinely speak the absolute truth 70, 80, or even 90 percent of the time. This brilliant tactic is strictly utilized to win massive public confidence, build unbreakable credibility, and successfully bait genuine, well-meaning, and fiercely intelligent voices to blindly join the doomed movements of their local actors.
This is exactly why I absolutely refuse to rally behind Sowore. I see his strings, I know his foreign sponsors, and I fully understand his dangerous pacification games. To use my platform to blindly amplify his heavily compromised voice here would be a spectacular, unforgivable betrayal to the genuine, organic, and uncompromising fight against global Imperialism that I proudly stand here to represent.
The problem is not so much what is happening in Nigeria at the moment. The real, terrifying problem is what is absolutely not happening.
Insecurity is ravaging the land, women are and children are being kidnapped en masse, but the people are not carrying massive loudspeakers, hiring flatbed trucks, dragging heavy diesel generators, and aggressively occupying the houses of every single high-ranking security chief, defense minister, police commissioner, and political godfather in the country.
Every single year, a brand new, suffocating tax bill is passed that makes daily survival extremely difficult and mentally exhausting for ordinary Nigerians. This exact economic terrorism has been happening every single year since the dark, exploitative days of Lord Lugard.
Yet, what is critically not happening are ruthless public demonstrations, massive strikes, tires being set ablaze on the open expressways, commercial banks being barricaded, government secretariats being completely shut down, and major businesses being aggressively locked down for weeks as a potent, undeniable form of civic resistance.
It is incredibly difficult to mentally process this pathetic, paralyzing docility from Nigerians. Even if you ultimately intend to vote out the exact government you claim to be incompetent or corrupt, how exactly does that future election magically stop your present-day public demonstrations? A democratic election is a painfully long four-year cycle. In four brutal years, tens of thousands of innocent citizens will have been kidnapped, dragged into terrifying forests, and held for impossible ransoms. In four years, thousands more will have senselessly lost their lives to this unchecked insecurity, rural banditry, and total state failure. In four years, millions more will violently crash below the poverty line, lose their jobs, close their shops, and join the swelling ranks of the utterly destitute. And if, by some absolute miracle, those long four years finally come to pass, you will sadly still have absolutely no other strategic game plan other than timidly pressing your ink-stained thumbprint onto fragile pieces of paper at highly compromised ballot boxes.
You have absolutely no structural game plan for protecting this sacred vote that you have been patiently waiting for while quietly enduring all the brutal hardships, the escalating bloodshed happening across the nation, the extortionate electricity tariffs, the astronomical fuel prices you are violently forced to pay, the skyrocketing food inflation, and all the brilliant business ideas you desperately tried to launch but were ruthlessly crushed by the wealth-destroying monetary policies of the administration. After four agonizing years, when it is finally time to change the system, sack the oppressors, and open a brand new chapter for your future generations, you arrive at the polling units with absolutely zero capacity, physical strength, or organizational intelligence to aggressively protect the very vote that is supposed to be the master key to your prosperity.
And then, when all is predictably said and done, it is these exact same ruthless politicians who have aggressively plundered you, starved you, and beaten you over a four-year period that you blindly entrust to handle the vote counting, the result collation, the electronic transmission, the final verification, the server uploads, and the ultimate declaration of the winner. And now, in a spectacular display of political naivety, you are religiously hoping, fasting, and praying that these cartel bosses will suddenly grow a conscience and do the right thing. In the inevitable event that they absolutely do not do the right thing, and you somehow magically manage to gather raw video evidence of blatant electoral malpractice, violent ballot snatching, voter intimidation, and brazen thumbprinting, your only supposed last hope is the Nigerian judiciary. This is a hopelessly compromised institution where every single wig-wearing judge that would table your case, listen to your grievances, and supposedly fight for this electoral injustice has been carefully groomed, heavily sponsored, quietly handpicked, aggressively promoted, completely bought off, and permanently pocketed by this exact same cartel of political thieves that are currently looting your national resources completely dry.
So our fundamental problem in this bleeding country is absolutely not so much what is happening to us, but the massive, deafening, and cowardly silence of what is not happening. This pathetic, self-destructive docility really has to violently end today if we ever truly intend to reclaim our stolen country, secure our borders, and guarantee a living future for our children.
Now that Elon Musk is officially a trillionaire, people have predictably begun punching calculators and writing incredibly naive think pieces to estimate the exact fraction of his hoarded wealth needed to magically end global hunger and solve the desperately growing refugee crisis across the globe.
This is a mistake because no amount of money can ever end global hunger. This is strictly because global hunger is not a natural phenomenon or an accident of geography. It is purely artificial, systematically manufactured, violently enforced, and perfectly designed to serve the greedy, insatiable interests of the global capitalist network.
It is terrifyingly estimated that more than 10 million people are at risk of brutal starvation in Sudan, but absolutely nobody calculates how many unmarked helicopters are flown in daily to drop advanced weapons, supply rebel factions, fund proxy wars, and smuggle out precious minerals from Sudan. Nobody estimates the sheer number of illegal, heavily armed mining cartels deep in the Sudanese forests digging out their gold, uranium, lithium, and rare earth minerals just to sustain the glittering global tech empires. Nobody ever talks about how their supposedly sovereign leaders are carefully selected, heavily funded, forcefully installed, and militarily protected by ruthless Western powers.
Northern Nigeria has some of the most fertile, arable, and naturally blessed lands in the entire world, yet a disproportionate, staggering majority of the population is currently suffocating in multidimensional poverty. These people are absolutely not lazy. They proudly built towering groundnut pyramids, dominated the global cotton market, exported premium skins, sustained massive trans-Saharan trade routes, and fed the entire region long before the parasitic colonizers ever set foot on the pristine shores of Africa. No amount of Western charity aid will ever solve the current hunger crisis in Nigeria because it is artificially, deliberately manufactured to violently sack the indigenous population from their ancestral soil, steal their resources, and extract their raw wealth to power the glittering nuclear reactors, electric grids, defense systems, and luxury economies in Europe. It is the exact same playbook in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the Congolese child is now completely covered in toxic cobalt dust, beaten with rifles, and forced into modern chattel slavery just so that the global tech empires can have cheap, uninterrupted access to the critical minerals required to build their ultra-modern microchips, electric batteries, defense drones, and sleek smartphones.
Now, this brutal analysis is only for a few select states in Africa. We can obviously, easily extend it to the entire Global South to further demonstrate that this so-called global hunger is a heavily weaponized tool, deliberately manufactured and sustained simply to pacify the psychotic greed of the global capitalists. As for the well-meaning, emotionally driven individuals who are blindly donating their hard-earned money in good conscience to these massive international organizations and flashy NGOs who are supposedly fighting to eradicate hunger: thank you for your charitable donations, but please urgently understand that these bloated organizations are absolutely not fighting hunger. In many horrific cases, they directly help smuggle the bullets, provide diplomatic cover, launder the conflict blood money, and deliver the guns to the exact same ruthless rebel groups that violently forced these innocent people off their fertile lands such as in Zaire in 1994 where humanitarian agencies actively fed, shielded, and effectively rearmed genocidal Hutu militias. In Haiti in 2010, these exact same international organizations and supposed UN peacekeepers recklessly poisoned the main rivers with untreated sewage water and directly caused a horrific cholera outbreak that resulted in the agonizing death of over 10,000 Haitians.
Look at the Central African Republic in 2014, where supposed international peacekeepers and foreign aid workers were violently implicated in the mass sexual abuse of starving, desperate children. Another painful example is the state of Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021, where billions in Western humanitarian aid were shamelessly funneled directly into the deep pockets of corrupt regional warlords and terrorist proxies. All of these broken nations are direct, undeniable victims of this predatory, disaster-capitalism NGO complex.
So it is crucially important to loudly emphasize that these people cannot feed themselves not because they are inherently lazy, intellectually inferior, financially illiterate, or geographically cursed, but strictly because the violent economic conditions that have been artificially created, structurally engineered, and brutally enforced upon them make it mathematically impossible for anyone to truly function, thrive, or even survive. It is the exact same tragic story with other African nations. They can easily govern themselves, build state-of-the-art facilities, construct bullet trains, and fund massive social welfare programs, but the suffocating, neocolonial government systems violently imposed on them make it completely impossible for anyone to genuinely, independently govern a sovereign nation. Instead of wasting time doing useless mathematics to estimate the tiny fraction of a billionaire's hoarded wealth that would supposedly end global hunger, channel that fierce, righteous energy into genuinely fighting against global imperialism, neocolonialism, and Western financial terrorism. That money you are emotionally donating to the Red Cross, Amnesty International, and other bloated Western NGOs is absolutely never going into the pockets of the actual victims of these engineered disasters. It always ends up in the deep pockets of the globalists, who eventually use it to fund their massive administrative overheads, pay their expatriate salaries, and manufacture even more lucrative regional disasters. So instead, find a genuine, grassroots anti-imperialist movement, donate directly to them, and aggressively empower the oppressed people to physically kick out the imperialists, overthrow the comprador elites, and regain absolute control of their stolen farmlands, their gold mines, and their oil fields. This is exactly what will actually help those people, this is exactly what China ruthlessly did to secure its dignity, and this is the absolute only permanent solution.
The Red Cross took a percentage of the donation for "administrative overhead." Then they handed the remaining money to a second NGO, which took their own cut for "administrative overhead."
Sometimes that NGO handed it to a third local partner, who took a third cut.
By the time the money reached the ground, much of it had been legally legally dissolved into bureaucratic salaries, offices, and PR, leaving virtually nothing for the actual victims.
This was how the money the good people of the world contributed to help Haiti ended up in the pockets of western NGO's.

This is a spectacularly careless statement and a dangerously counterproductive commentary, especially coming from a veteran journalist and a former presidential spokesperson like Reuben Abati.
I am not even watching the World Cup right now for the sake of basic human dignity, so I do not have the luxurious privilege of blindly supporting any team to win. But rallying the entire population of Nigeria to unilaterally boycott South Africa is incredibly foolish and a massive, resounding slap in the face of African unity.
Yes, it is absolutely true that what is currently happening in South Africa is a horrific human rights crisis. The rounding up of foreigners by violent mobs, the brazen looting of immigrant-owned shops, the senseless torching of properties, the broad daylight lynchings, and the targeted assassination of African migrants are all deeply sickening. But you absolutely cannot advocate for the blanket boycott of an entire sovereign country on these shaky grounds because you are indirectly advocating for the exact same collective punishment, blind bigotry, and xenophobic division that you are supposedly criticizing. Also, we cannot just comfortably pretend that all South Africans are mindlessly uprooting foreigners from their homes to brutalize them. There are millions of ordinary South Africans, heavily active civil society organizations, brave human rights activists, and community leaders who actively condemn this senseless violence and put their lives on the line to protect foreign nationals.
And let us completely stop pretending as if this violent bigotry is strictly a South African monopoly. Right here in Nigeria, for example, the Igbo people have been viciously harassed, unapologetically ethnically profiled, aggressively disenfranchised during elections, their bustling markets deliberately torched, their private businesses looted to the absolute ground, and their fundamental rights as citizens repeatedly trampled upon, all while they are supposedly living peacefully inside the very place they recognize as their own country. And even as all of this state-sanctioned madness is happening, the police are either conveniently nowhere to be found, merely standing by, or actively assisting the political hoodlums. The billionaire class and high-profile chieftains in those communities are always predictably quiet, aggressively looking the other way, or making deeply disparaging remarks on national television to justify the violence. The federal government is either absolutely silent or deliberately dragging its feet to prosecute the known thugs behind these crimes. The very next thing we hear in these ridiculous circumstances is that they have set up a symbolic committee to magically resolve the ethnic grievances. This useless committee will then aggressively drag the issue for years until absolutely nobody is interested in whatever meaningless, heavily doctored reports they eventually publish.
This is the exact, predictable pattern that the parasitic capitalist class uses to expertly deflect blame and violently redirect public anger onto convenient, defenseless scapegoats. In the streets of South Africa right now, the political propaganda is dialed to the absolute maximum. The glaring fact that the white minority still comfortably controls over 70 percent of the prime land and corporate wealth is all of a sudden the fault of the poor immigrants. The fact that the brutal Apartheid system was never fully dismantled to balance the economy and allow black citizens to climb the social ladder is magically the fault of the Ghanaians. The fact that violent crime rates are skyrocketing is no longer recognized as a catastrophic state failure that should warrant a complete overhaul of the corrupt security chiefs, but is instead entirely blamed on the Nigerians. The crippling unemployment rate is conveniently blamed on the Somalis, the crumbling public infrastructure is attributed to the Zimbabweans, and the gross incompetence of the ruling elite is miraculously dumped on the shoulders of undocumented migrants. This was the exact same toxic, fabricated storyline they ruthlessly cooked up in Northern Nigeria explicitly against the Igbos. The ruling elites perfectly orchestrate this bloody theater to deflect from their own monumental failures and permanently shield themselves from righteous public aggression.
Reuben Abati should not be making these reckless, highly inflammatory statements on live television. Xenophobia will only end when other African nations aggressively force the political government of South Africa, the mining cartels, and the massive corporations controlling their resources to absolute order. It will certainly not stop by making reactionary xenophobic remarks, throwing media tantrums, and calling for the lazy boycott of an entire group of people. The last thing we need right now is more border friction and manufactured hatred in Africa. Genuine African unity is utterly integral to any serious conversation about total decolonization.
I hate to admit this, but I completely agree with the IMF on this one.
I know that this may sound heavily counterintuitive. In all my political analysis on this platform, I have consistently pointed out that the IMF and the World Bank do not give out loans to genuinely help developing countries. They lend strictly to control the economies of developing nations, force privatization, and forcefully open local markets for the massive global multinationals financing these exact institutions.
However, I have done my deep research on this highly secretive Abu Dhabi loan scheme that the Nigerian government is presently considering, and what I found is deeply troubling and borderline treasonous.
First, it is crucially important to emphasize that this is the first time Nigeria, in all its long, painful history of borrowing to build infrastructure, is ever seriously considering a Total Return Swap (TRS) loan.
Historically, Nigeria has always restricted its sovereign borrowing to Eurobonds, bilateral government-to-government loans(with China), Paris Club concessional debt, standard World Bank infrastructure facilities, or traditional commercial syndicated loans.
Not only has Nigeria never tried a Total Return Swap loan in the past, but other African nations have actively, aggressively avoided this financial death trap entirely. In fact, the only two African nations to have even foolishly attempted to engage in a Total Return Swap loan are Senegal and Angola, and in both tragic cases, the macroeconomic aftershocks have been devastatingly brutal.
First, I see Nigerians making the erroneous and highly emotional argument that the IMF is strictly against this loan simply because they do not want us borrowing from China or the Middle East. This is a massive because the toxic TRS loan that Angola eventually took was actually structured through an American bank, JPMorgan, and the IMF still criticized it heavily, publicly, and relentlessly. Secondly, even though the bank Nigeria currently intends to borrow this money from may proudly bear an Arabic name, the underlying operational and structural plumbing of global finance rigidly dictates that it is absolutely impossible for the UAE to directly lend billions of dollars to Nigeria without the direct involvement, backend infrastructure, dollar liquidity, and clearing systems of major American banks. So Wall Street still gets to comfortably eat from this toxic loan, even though it is geographically originating from the Middle East.
Secondly, it is incredibly easy to understand why the Tinubu Administration is pushing so aggressively to lock in this loan. Recall that a strong rumor was circulating last month that the World Bank had permanently terminated an $800 million loan to the Nigerian government. Well, the truth is that it was actually the Tinubu Administration that urgently requested the World Bank terminate the loan because the harsh conditions were simply too much to swallow politically. The World Bank arrogantly demanded that Tinubu impose even more taxes on electricity and hike tariffs which would effectively raise the suffocating cost of survival for Nigerian businesses, which Tinubu respectfully declined because the tax burden was already provoking mass anger.
So right now, it is highly probable that Tinubu is quietly running to Abu Dhabi to collect a massive, strings-free loan that will definitely not come with painful Structural Adjustment Programmes that would force him to devalue the Naira further, remove more subsidies, or hit Nigerians with heavier, crippling taxes.
This is highly understandable from a purely selfish political calculus. General elections are exactly seven short months away, and the frustrated, hungry, and exhausted Nigerian population could violently rebel against him at the ballot box. So obviously, another punishing World Bank loan is completely off the table for now if the President intends to comfortably return to Aso Rock come 2027.
This is exactly why they have desperately chosen this Total Return Swap loan. This is because Abu Dhabi does not care a single bit about the junk credit ratings of Nigeria, they do not care about structural adjustment programmes, they will not demand Nigeria cuts funding for healthcare, slashes education budgets, eliminates remaining agricultural subsidies, privatizes critical national assets, or forces mass layoffs in the civil service just to qualify for this cash. However, this loan comes with a very strict, highly predatory condition that every single Nigerian should be deeply concerned about, violently reject, and aggressively demand the government immediately withdraw their application for.
First, to even qualify for this $5 billion loan, the Nigerian government must physically hand over sovereign government bonds worth over 133% of this loan, which translates to a staggering โฆ6.6 Trillion, directly to the UAE. These Treasury Bills are binding debts that the Nigerian government has legally promised to pay out to creditors, and Abu Dhabi will instantly sell off these bills to the international market to secure their โฆ6.6 trillion. These new global buyers will effectively be holding Nigeria's sovereign debt hostage. These private, faceless investors will eventually turn to the Central Bank of Nigeria and violently demand to be paid the interest (coupons) and the massive face value of those bonds. The Nigerian government is now legally, permanently obligated to pay out โฆ6.6 trillion of our bleeding taxpayers' money to these aggressive private bondholders.
This is not even the scariest part of this suicidal deal. Another strict, unforgiving obligation of this toxic loan is the terrifying "Margin Call." You see, since these Treasury Bills are heavily priced in Naira, their global value will violently fluctuate depending on how our fragile exchange rate changes. If the Strait of Hormuz is permanently reopened, for example, the global price of oil per barrel will drastically plummet below the $100 mark. This will definitely, immediately impact our Naira value since it will rapidly dry up the vital US dollars flowing into Nigeria, given that 90% of our foreign reserves are entirely dependent on crude oil exports. This means significantly fewer dollars will now be coming into the country, which will trigger massive dollar scarcity. Basic, elementary economics dictates that we should automatically expect the Naira to violently crash to โฆ1,600, โฆ1,800, or even โฆ2,000 per dollar. If this nightmare happens, let us assume the Naira falls by 40%. Then the underlying value of the Nigerian treasury bills issued to the UAE would effectively crash in value by 40 percent. In response, they will instantly issue an aggressive margin call to Nigeria, legally forcing the CBN to immediately, unconditionally transfer $2.6 billion in raw cash directly to the UAE just to keep the loan position open.
Now, pay attention: this massive amount does not even settle the outstanding principal loan, it does not settle the mounting interest on the loan, it is simply a punitive penalty fee that Nigeria must bleed out just to keep the contract active. Nigeria would either have to raid our already depleted foreign reserves (which are supposed to be strictly used to defend the Naira, pay for imports, and secure national stability) just to keep a useless loan position open. If Nigeria does not want to send scarce dollars to the UAE, Nigeria would be contractually forced to issue and blindly pledge an additional โฆ2.64 trillion in brand new Treasury bills. Instead of having โฆ6.6 trillion in national debt held hostage by a foreign bank, Nigeria would suddenly have โฆ9.24 trillion totally locked up. If Nigeria eventually defaults, the amount of national debt the UAE bank can maliciously dump onto the fragile local market violently increases from โฆ6.6 trillion to over โฆ9.2 trillion, and this would absolutely, mathematically guarantee a total domestic financial collapse.
Look at the tragic case of Angola, for example. Just four very short months after collecting this exact type of toxic loan from JPMorgan, their local currency violently crashed, legally forcing Angola to urgently scrape together and send $200 million in raw cash directly to the American bank, and despite this massive financial bleeding, they eventually defaulted on the entire loan anyway.
This is exactly what every Nigerian desperately needs to understand. Tinubu is not actively avoiding the IMF and the World Bank because his administration has suddenly decided to act sovereign, stand tall, and look for a genuinely better, more respectful lender. This administration is directly, purely avoiding the World Bank because their specific loan will come with heavier taxes, painful structural reforms, and massive public backlash since a highly contested election is dangerously close. But now, this desperate administration is blindly grabbing onto a far more dangerous, explosive, and financially lethal loan that has the direct capacity to cripple our entire economy, destroy our currency, and bankrupt our future faster than the World Bank or IMF could ever possibly dream of.
The society of Nigerian accountants needs to urgently study the complex terms of this toxic loan, hold emergency press conferences, and issue a strongly worded statement to condemn it in its strongest possible terms. The lawyers need to immediately download these predatory loan agreements, study the fine print, dissect the hidden clauses, expose the draconian arbitration terms, file urgent injunctions in federal courts, drag the Finance Minister to the National Assembly, and forcefully petition international financial watchdogs. We, as an exhausted people, need to finally wake up, get angry, and do something concrete, as this is a catastrophic decision that will violently affect our daily lives, our businesses, and our children. Yes, an election is coming, but the election is not tomorrow, the election is not next month, the election is in exactly 7 months, and by then, this financial death warrant would be permanently signed, sealed, and firmly delivered. The House of Assembly will obviously, spinelessly approve these loans without reading a single page because their privileged children, their wealthy families, and their unborn grandchildren will obviously never be affected by the brutal terms of this financial slavery. But we, the ordinary, hardworking, and highly taxed Nigerians, will be the ones totally crushed to the absolute ground when this house of cards inevitably crashes.
