Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the First Financial Closing of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) and greeted the nation on this historic milestone in the privatization history of Pakistan.

The Privatisation Commission of Pakistan today achieved the First Closing of the divestment of PIACL through privatisation, transferring management control of the airline to the investor consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation Limited, following satisfaction of all conditions precedent under the Share Purchase and Subscription Agreement (SPSA).

The successful completion of the First Closing of the PIA privatisation transaction is a moment of real satisfaction for my government and for the people of Pakistan, said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It demonstrates that complex, strategic transactions can be delivered transparently, competitively, and on time through team work and “Whole of the Government Approach”. More importantly, it opens a new chapter for PIA and for our broader economic reform agenda, he added. Today’s milestone achievement sends a strong signal to domestic and international investors: Pakistan is open for business, committed to reform, and ready for growth, said PM Shehbaz Sharif.

With this First Closing, we move closer to reviving PIA to its past glory, said the Prime Minister. The Government remains committed to protecting the interests of employees, passengers and consumers while ensuring a smooth transition and uninterrupted airline operations. All applicable aviation laws and regulatory oversight will continue to apply.

Prime Minister commended the role and hard work of Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and his dedicated team for this teamwork.

PM also commended the role of Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Advisor on Privatization Muhammad Ali and members of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization and Privatisation Commission in making this transaction success۔

Alhamdulillah! Today marks another important milestone in Pakistan’s economic reform journey.

The successful First Financial Closing of the PIA privatisation transaction, and the transfer of management control to the investor consortium, marks the beginning of a new chapter for our national carrier. With a transformational investment to modernise and strengthen PIA, we are laying the foundation for its revival while reinforcing investor confidence in Pakistan.

I commend Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and pay special tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and his dedicated team, as well as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Privatisation Commission, and all those whose professionalism, commitment and tireless efforts made this landmark achievement possible.

Together, we will continue to pursue bold reforms that strengthen our economy, create opportunities for our people, and secure a more prosperous future for Pakistan.

وزیراعظم محمد شہباز شریف کی زیرِ صدارت وزارتِ قومی غذائی تحفظ و تحقیق کی تنظیمِ نو اور زرعی شعبے میں اصلاحات سے متعلق اہم جائزہ اجلاس منعقد ہوا.

وزیرِ اعظم نے اجلاس میں گفتگو کرتے ہوئے ہدایت کی کہ صوبوں کی مشاورت سے جامع قومی زرعی پالیسی جلد از جلد مرتب کی جائے، شعبے میں ایپکس فورم قائم کیا جائے جو ایگریکلچر انوویشن اور گروتھ پلان پر مؤثر عملدرآمد یقینی بنانے کے حوالے سے ماہانہ اجلاس منعقد کرے اور زرخیز-ای (Zarkhez-e) زرعی قرضے پروگرام سے متعلق ملک گیر آگاہی مہم شروع کی جائے تاکہ کسانوں کو آسان زرعی قرضوں تک رسائی مزید بہتر بنایا جا سکے.

وزیرِ اعظم نے کہا کہ پاکستان ایگریکلچرل ریسرچ کونسل کو صحیح معنوں میں زرعی تحقیق کا مرکز بنایا جائے. زرعی شعبہ پاکستان کو پائیدار معاشی ترقی کی راہ پر گامزن کرنے کی بھرپور صلاحیت رکھتا ہے. بہتر بیج، جدید زرعی ٹیکنالوجی، پانی اور کھاد کی بروقت اور مناسب فراہمی سے فی ایکڑ پیداوار بڑھے گی.

وزیرِ اعظم نے گفتگو جاری رکھتے ہوئے کہا کہ زرعی اجناس کی ویلیو ایڈیشن، بہتر ویئر ہاؤسنگ اور جدید ذخیرہ سازی کے نظام پر توجہ دی جائے.

اجلاس میں وزیراعظم کو زرعی شعبے میں اصلاحات کے حوالے سے تجاویز پیش کی گئیں. بریفنگ میں بتایا گیا کہ نیشنل ایگریکلچرل ریسرچ سینٹر (NARC) نے پائلٹ بنیادوں پر ملٹی گرین آٹے کی تیاری جاری ہے. مصنوعی ذہانت (AI) پر مبنی ایپ تیار کی جا رہی ہے، جو کسانوں کو کیڑوں اور فصلوں میں بیماریوں کے مؤثر تدارک میں مدد فراہم کرے گی. نیشنل کریڈٹ گارنٹی کمپنی لمیٹڈ کسانوں کی آسان قرضوں تک رسائی کے لیے فنڈز مہیا کرے گی.

بریفنگ میں مزید بتایا گیا کہ نیشنل سیڈ پالیسی اور نیشنل ایگریکلچر بائیو ٹیکنالوجی پالیسی حال ہی میں منظور ہو چکی ہیں. پاکستان نیشنل اولیو (Olive) ویلیو چین پالیسی پر مشاورت مکمل ہو چکی اور جلد منظوری کے لئے پیش کی جائے گی. گندم سے متعلق قومی پالیسی، اور لائیو اسٹاک سے متعلق کئی پالیسیوں پر مشاورت جاری ہے.

اجلاس میں وفاقی وزراء احسن اقبال، محمد اورنگزیب، عطا اللہ تارڑ، شزہ فاطمہ خواجہ، وزیر مملکت برائے خزانہ بلال اظہر کیانی، معاون خصوصی ہارون اختر، وزیراعظم کے کوآرڈینیٹر برائے زراعت احمد عمیر اور متعلقہ اداروں کے اعلیٰ افسران شریک تھے۔

وزیرِ اعظم محمد شہباز شریف آج ایک روزہ دورے پر کراچی پہنچ گئے. گورنر سندھ سید نہال ہاشمی، وزیرِ اعلی سندھ سید مراد علی شاہ نے وزیرِ اعظم کا پی این ایس قاسم پہنچنے پر استقبال کیا.

وزیرِ اعظم پاکستان نیول اکیڈمی، پی این ایس رہبر، کراچی میں منعقدہ 125 مڈشپ مین اور 33ویں شارٹ سروس کمیشن (SSC) کورس کی پاسنگ آؤٹ میں بطور مہمان خصوصی شرکت کریں گے.
