I'm Prashant. Mobile dev from bangalore, building veia at night. what it is, all boring:
- a shopify mobile app builder
- $49/month, flat
- no cut of your sales
- native ios + android
the boring part is on purpose. small stores got priced out of mobile apps.
rebuilt the product page around what shoppers do. before → now, all boring:
- one photo → full-screen: pinch, double-tap, swipe
- wall of text → sections that fold
- offer codes on the page
- a size guide
- reviews: average, star breakdown, sorting

veia lets a store make an offer app-only. why:
- same price in app and on site = no reason to keep the app
- app-only price = a reason to open it
- a new kind of offer, not a copy of her site discounts
that offer is why the icon stays on the phone.
#buildinpublic#shopify
veia doesn't ask a merchant to pick a theme. what it does, all boring:
- reads her store
- takes her colours, fonts, logo
- opens looking like her brand
- she approves, not chooses
a merchant with no designer can't tell which preset is "hers".
#buildinpublic#shopify
for 4 days no shopper could sign in to any store app. what they saw, all boring:
- enter email
- get the code
- type it
- signed out again, no error
every automated check was green. a human on a real phone found it.
green tests, broken product.

earlier this week i said polished apps use brand colour on ~1% of the screen.
measured ours: 5.1%.
this week the top bar went light, with the store's colour as an accent, not a full fill.
practising what i posted.

one shopper review on a big d2c app:
"items in the cart disappear after a while."
not a bug report. a lost order. a cart should survive closing the app, not reset.
the boring stuff is where stores leak money.

our app preview and real app kept drifting apart. fix, all boring:
- ~146 screen states
- each rendered on both
- compared box by box, pixel by pixel
- on every commit, not before release
a preview that lies is worse than no preview.

turns a shopify store into its own fully native ios + android app. products, cart, checkout, push notifs, all synced from the store.

read reviews of 3 indian d2c brand apps. top complaints, all boring:
- "where's my order"
- tracking that never moves
- support that's only bots
- helpline switched off
the apps sit at 4.5+. brands lose people after checkout, not in the app.
