DTC's Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group spans banks, asset managers, and infrastructure providers.
Palladium Labs has joined, contributing a Canton builder's perspective on how tokenized assets can be used across lending, collateral, and settlement once onchain.
Palladium Labs is joining the DTC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group, contributing feedback on the development of @The_DTCC’s Tokenization Service.
The group brings together 100+ firms, including @BlackRock, @jpmorgan, @GoldmanSachs, @NYSE and @Nasdaq.
As a research and engineering firm building on @CantonNetwork, we’ll bring a builder’s perspective on how tokenized assets can be used across lending, collateral and settlement workflows.
Our focus is what those assets can do once they are onchain.
Financial agreements define who can act, what each party owes, and who can see the details.
Daml encodes those rules into how an agreement executes and evolves.
@AkashGauravX on why @CantonNetwork takes this approach to programming financial agreements. ↓
Holding a valuable asset and being able to use it as collateral are two different things.
A firm may hold bonds with one custodian and need financing at another institution. The lender needs to establish that the collateral is available, secure its rights over it, and coordinate the release of funds. The custodian's records and the lender's records need to reflect the same arrangement.
Across separate systems, that takes coordination. Tokenizing the bond alone does not resolve it.
Collateral mobility is about making that value usable where it is needed. A common coordination layer could let the parties commit collateral and settle the corresponding financing together, while maintaining their respective controls.
This is why @AkashGauravX sees the opportunity extending beyond tokenization. Different assets and applications may live on different networks, yet still coordinate and settle as parts of one connected market.
The bigger opportunity is enabling assets and financial applications across different systems to coordinate and settle as one connected market.
Financial markets are fragmented. Assets sit across banks, custodians and exchanges - and moving capital between them creates enormous friction.
Blockchain’s real opportunity is giving those systems a common coordination layer so they can coordinate and settle as one connected market.
@AkashGauravX on why collateral mobility is a bigger opportunity than tokenization alone. ↓
Representing ownership is only part of bringing finance onchain. The agreement around an asset defines how it can be used, by whom, and under what conditions.
A collateralized loan connects collateral, borrowing terms, repayment obligations and liquidation rules. Those rules need to hold throughout the life of the position.
This is the deeper point in @AkashGauravX's explanation.
DAML lets us express the agreement, including who must authorize it, who can take each action, and who can see the relevant data. @CantonNetwork enforces that privacy while keeping updates synchronized across the participants involved.
For us at Palladium Labs, this shapes how we build: start with the financial relationship, then express its lifecycle in code.
@AlpendHQ puts that approach into practice.
Finance runs on agreements.
DAML gives us a way to express them. @CantonNetwork provides the privacy and synchronization to execute them.
@AkashGauravX on why that combination became the foundation for Alpend. ↓
