This project came to life through the thoughtful guidance and generous support of Maher Qaddoura, whose vision shaped every step of its development. It is dedicated to the cherished memory of his son, the late Hikmat Maher Kaddoura — may his soul rest in everlasting peace.

The International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM) has announced the Palestinian Museum as the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Museum Practice Award for its exhibition “Gaza Remains the Story”.

The Palestinian Museum dedicates this award to beloved Gaza and to the steadfastness of its people, whose resilience inspires everything we do.

This milestone coincides with a historic step for the Palestinian museum sector: the official establishment of the Palestinian Museums Association (ICOM Palestine), following extensive efforts by a distinguished group of specialists and museum professionals.

يهنّئ المتحف الفلسطيني بهاء الجعبة، مدير وحدة المجموعات والترميم في المتحف الفلسطيني، بانتخابه أمينًا عامًّا للمنظّمة الإقليميّة العربيّة للمجلس الدولي للمتاحف (الأيكوم العربي) للدورة 2025–2028.

يأتي هذا الإنجاز بالتزامن مع خطوة تاريخية للقطاع المتحفي الفلسطيني، تمثلت في التأسيس الرسمي لجمعية المتاحف الفلسطينية (ICOM فلسطين)، بعد جهود حثيثة بذلتها نخبة من المتخصصين والعاملين في مجال المتاحف. وبهذا الإعلان، تُكرس فلسطين رسميا عضوا فاعلا ضمن منظومة الأيكوم العالميّة.

The course was made possible through the generous support of Mrs. Linda Jacobs via The Violet Jabara Charitable Trust, reaffirming the Museum’s commitment to investing in knowledge and developing specialised practices to protect Palestinian heritage.

في إطار جهوده المتواصلة لحفظ التراث المادّي، وتطوير المعرفة والممارسات المهنيّة في صون الأرشيفات والوثائق، نظّم المتحف الفلسطيني دورة تدريبيّة متخصّصة في ترميم الورق، استضافتها مختبرات الترميم في المتحف، وأشرفت عليها خبيرة الترميم صفاء الخطيب.

As part of its ongoing efforts to preserve tangible heritage, the Palestinian Museum organised a specialised training course in paper restoration, hosted at the Museum’s conservation laboratories and supervised by restoration expert Safaa Al-Khatib.

Given the current circumstances—daily closures, incursions, and military sieges disrupting movement across cities, the museum will not hold an official opening. Instead, visitors are welcome to experience the exhibition at their own time, whenever possible.
