As a bisexual individual born and living in Japan, I protest against the use of the internet meme 'Barbenheimer' to make light of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Please remember that there are still people suffering from the aftereffects of the atomic bombs.
Mr. Oppenheimer later regretted his involvement in nuclear weapon development and engaged in activities advocating for the ban of hydrogen bombs. He was subsequently ousted from public office by the Red Scare and lived under constant surveillance by the authorities. He would not have wanted to see the internet meme derived from a movie portraying him used in such a manner.
