On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law as my father looked on. It was not a gift. It was the result of sacrifice, courage, organizing, and nonviolent struggle.
I believe my father would be deeply troubled by the ongoing efforts to weaken voting rights and make fair representation harder to secure. But I also believe he would not want us to surrender to frustration or despair.
We have work to do. We must organize with discipline, demand new voting rights protections, and continue pressing toward a democracy where every voice is valued and every vote is protected.

Before you go see @springsteen tonight @TargetCenterMN, read exclusive @StarTribune interview. He talks No Kings, Streets of Minneapolis, @tmorello & what to expect in concert. 1st 2 songs will be livestreamed for free on youtube https://t.co/w0xcXVSofS
Why is @Delta such a mess right now. This happens every March. Trying to rebook and they give stand by options. No one wants to do standby when you can see the flights are absolutely full.
@CheyCab That wasn’t my experience at all. We invited him to many events and he would be there on time. He would also bring other people to help support for example, SBA.
The end of an era. The Alabama delegation paid our respects to Lt. Col. George Hardy, the last surviving Tuskegee Airman to fly combat missions in WWII. We owe him—and all the Tuskegee Airmen—an enormous debt of gratitude. May he rest in peace and power. 🙏🏾
If you can only read one thing today, please make take the time for this extraordinary piece of writing by my cousin Caroline's extraordinary daughter Tatiana. Tatiana is a beautiful writer, journalist, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. This piece is about what she has been going through for the last year and a half. It's an ode to all the doctors and nurses who toil on the frontlines of humanity. It's so many things, but best to read it yourself, and be blown away by one woman's life story. And let it be a reminder to be grateful for the life you are living today, right now, this very minute.
Last night saw that Bean died and couldn’t believe it. Texted a friend who lives over seas & is a close friend to him. Everyone is grieving. I hope the Minneapolis Sound Museum goes on in his honor. Rest in love Jellybean 💜 🕊️
Jellybean Johnson, pillar of Minneapolis music, dies at 69. "He didn’t want to sit on the couch. Dude played every night because he loved it. It was his lifeblood.” He worked with @prince@JanetJackson@TheMorrisDay & the Time and more. @StribGoingOut https://t.co/9o8BKTemSh
