So it seems like @billboard has undeclared "recurrent" rules that they don't publish or explain to older songs from reentering the chart.
I am not speaking about Ophelia, Opalite, etc, which officially went recurrent. Songs like Father Figure and others never went recurrent. They just left the chart when they fell below the points threshold.
Talk of the Chart had several Showgirl songs having enough points to reenter. Father Figure being well above the threshold. Yet Billboard kept it and the others off the chart, even though it had never been on the chart long enough to trigger a recurrent status.
Billboard needs to make it clear how they handle songs that once charted, left the chart, and never went recurrent. Because right now, they seem to be enforcing a rule they have never defined or published.
.@gthot20 We are opening this space for you to explain what is happening in this hot 100 update, otherwise, we will interpret it as manipulation. All of Showgirl's tracks are eligible to its current rules. There is nothing preventing the re-entry of Ophelia or tracks that have only been on the chart for 15 weeks.
Ophelia experienced a resurgence of more than double the previous points and would enter directly into the Top 15, as was the case with DtMf and Daises recently.
Some album tracks from other artists with far fewer chart positions charted this week, but lacked a strong presence on streaming platforms or in sales.
I eagerly await a response here, by email, or even from Taylor's team, whom we have already contacted.
