@pauljpastor Looking at it from a different angle. Often, we believe that acquisition of material goods will bring us the greatest satisfaction when having a community to belong to is what we really need. Expecting things to bring us lasting joy leads to disappointment.
I've said it many times. Trump is a broken, pathologically unfit man. The Founders foresaw that such a leader could arise & put in place constitutional remedies. Ultimately, I do not blame Trump who shows no capacity for shame or empathy. I do not blame his voters or the media...
...who did not take an oath to uphold the Constitution. I blame the 43 Republican Senators who put their political careers ahead of their oath by refusing to convict & remove him from office after Jan 6th. We are all burdened with the stench of their cowardice.

@edstetzer There was a time when talking on the phone wasn’t an issue. Aside from those you don’t want to talk to because they never take a breath and don’t hesitate to burn an hour on the phone, insisting on email seems to be avoidance, especially when a longer conversation is required.
“That’s not my anxiety.”
I say this to myself to be reminded that it’s not always mine. Lord knows, anxiety stirs within me. I learned early on to get lost in other people’s anxiety, to make it my responsibility. I learned early on to absorb, to react, to avoid.
But we can all grow in our capacity to differentiate, to own what’s ours and let the anxiety of others be theirs. And, as it turns out, we’re way more helpful in the end when we can remain “rooted and grounded,” as St Paul says
