This year’s #NobelPrize laureate Anne Carson was born in 1950 in Toronto, Canada. In 1981, she published her doctoral thesis in Classics entitled ‘Odi et Amo Ergo Sum’, and has, throughout her entire career, combined poetry writing with translation work and teaching at various universities.
Almost all her literary production has centred upon the intersection between the philologist’s obsession with words and the poet’s desire for new meaning. She has herself identified the etymology of words as the starting point for all her work.
“It seems a little insane”
Anne Carson was sweeping the kitchen floor at her home in Reykjavík, Iceland, when the phone rang and she learnt that she had been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature.
In this conversation with the Nobel Prize just moments after the announcement, Carson shares her advice for aspiring writers and reveals that she has already started planning how to give away the prize money.
Very happy to share that KIIT Deemed to be University has received the ‘Excellence in Globalization’ award at the 21st FICCI Higher Education Summit, held in New Delhi.
I have always wanted my lovable KIITians to have opportunities to learn beyond our campus and make friends across the world. Our faculty and teams have worked hard to build these relationships with universities abroad. This award means a great deal to our entire KIIT family.
My sincere thanks to FICCI for this honour, and my congratulations to everyone who has helped take KIIT to the world.
76th Honorary Doctorate
I am grateful to the Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for conferring an honorary doctorate on me on its 15th Foundation Day. This is my 76th honorary doctorate, and I receive it with humility.
My heartfelt thanks to the Governing Body and the entire IAR family for this honour.
Very happy to welcome Her Excellency Ms Hanisha Jairam, Ambassador of Suriname to India, to KIIT & KISS. She went around our KIIT campuses, saw the facilities at KISS and spent time with my lovable KISSians. We also spoke about the long ties of history and culture between India and Suriname.
She appreciated the confidence and smiles of my KISSians, encouraged them to dream big whatever their circumstances, and spoke about how educating a girl can help her whole family. My sincere thanks to her for spending time with our children and for her kind words.
Heartfelt greetings to our air warriors, veterans and their families on the 94th #IndianAirForceDay. Whether protecting our skies or helping people during disasters, they serve India with courage and dedication. I thank them for their service and pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our country.
Jai Hind.
Very happy to share that 33 faculty members from KIIT Deemed to be University and one from KISS Deemed to be University have been featured in the single-year list of the 2026 Stanford–Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists database. Eleven of our faculty members are on the career-long list.
My heartiest congratulations to each of them. KISS Deemed to be University is only nine years old. To see a KISS teacher on this list makes me especially happy. I know how much patience and hard work good research takes, and I am proud of all our teachers.
I hope their work inspires my lovable KIITians and KISSians to keep growing.
We have started a new initiative at KIIT called ‘Earn While You Learn’ for my lovable KIITians.
I have seen students at universities abroad take up work alongside their studies, gain experience, and earn their own pocket money. I wanted our students to have that opportunity too.
The response has made me very happy. Over 1,000 students applied, and we have begun with our first group of 100. They will help with the work of the university, learn from the experience and earn while they study. They will also gain the confidence to speak, lead and take responsibility. These are lessons a classroom alone cannot give.
My good wishes to all of them. I hope this is the beginning of something useful for many more KIITians.
I have always wanted to give our students every opportunity to do well in life and be of use to others. Many of my lovable KIITians and KISSians dream of joining the Civil Services. I want them to have the guidance to prepare for that dream.
With this thought, we have started the KIIT IAS Academy (KIASA) for aspirants from KIIT, KISS and KIMS. At the inauguration, I told them to dream big, study with discipline, remain humble and never give up. I hope one day they will serve people in different parts of our country, always keeping citizens first and the nation first.
My good wishes to all of them.

Proud of my lovable KIITian Amit Rohidas. He came to meet me today after winning gold with the Indian men’s hockey team at the Asian Games and qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Seeing him so happy made me very happy too.
We also spoke about starting a hockey academy at KIIT & KISS to find and train young players, especially among my lovable KISSians. I hope many more of our children will one day play hockey for India.
My thanks to the Government of Odisha for its continued encouragement of hockey. My good wishes to Amit for the Los Angeles Olympics and all that lies ahead.

KIIT_KISS_Asian_GamesCongratulations to my lovable KIITians on representing India at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi–Nagoya 2026, Japan, and winning 21 medals for India.

Tessman, President of Montana State University; Prof Jorge Fabián Calzoni, Rector of the National University of Avellaneda and President of UDUALC; and Mr Santiago Tangir, Executive Director for Argentina at iBRICS+, for their trust in KIIT. Thank you for your kind words, Shri Motilal Oswal ji. We were happy to have you spend time with our children at KIIT & KISS. Your affection and encouragement mean a great deal to me and to our entire family.
The 2026 #NobelPrize laureates in physiology or medicine have laid the foundation of a new era in neuroscience.
Using optogenetics, researchers have been able to reveal neural circuits governing specific memories, feelings, and behaviours relevant for neurological and psychiatric disorders. In clinical medicine, researchers are using the method in attempts to restore sight in people with visual impairment.
Optogenetics has fundamentally altered our understanding of the brain. Every day brings new discoveries, helping to solve one of humanity’s great mysteries: how our incredible brain works.
I was very happy to hear our guests speak about what they saw at KIIT & KISS and the time they spent with our children.
My heartfelt thanks to all our guests for taking the time to be with us. Your kindness means so much to me and to our entire family.
