There are so many really incredible people in academia who get really harmed & burnt out from it. For all the kind and passionate people in academia who may be struggling, just know that many of us are grateful you're here, it's not YOU it's the system, and you're doing amazing.
finishing grad school with a cohort you love is so bittersweet because I am so so so proud of everyone but now that WE DID IT we're all going our separate ways and I'll miss everybody 🥺
@FutureDrDukes I felt similarly last week when I defended! I had a playlist titled "You Got This". took deep breaths. and the best advice I got is you're nervous bc you care a lot, it makes sense! and there's a thin line between nerves and excitement, this is normal :) good luck and have fun!

Got an RNA-seq dataset with 50, 100, 200+ samples? Plug it into a differential expression tool and hope for the best? No! You need to consider QC, EDA, and modeling technical variation, or else risk generating spurious results. A thread on papers, methods, and best practices:

Overall, we provide transcriptomic, proteomic, and phosphoproteomic profiles of RIT1 and hope this resource helps to further studies of RIT1 to understand its role in cell signaling, lung cancer, and other disorders! 5/
By gene set analyses, we found that RIT1 corresponds to an EMT phenotype which was also reflected in migration assays and increased activity of the EMT genes Snail and Slug. 4/
