I built Bookstry, a reading app that grew to 24k users in Hungary 🇭🇺

Now I’m launching it in English and trying to take it global 🌍

@data36_com Thanks Tomi! Checked with my accountant, apparently there's a €10k/year EU threshold for cross-border digital services, under it I stay on Hungarian VAT, and non-EU sales fall outside EU VAT with no registration. So Stripe's fine for now, Paddle's my fallback past threshold🙏

Just shipped Stripe checkout for Bookstry's international readers.

Started with a local Hungarian provider (our first UK subscriber paid through it), but every international user had to figure out what it even was.

Stripe removes that friction entirely.

One of the first international Bookstry users signed up yesterday.

She found the app on Instagram, asked about Barion before paying, then subscribed the same day.

So she became my first international subscriber. 🎉

Bookstry is now live in English! 🚀

Huge under-the-hood changes to make the app ready for global users. The first 100k English books are already imported and live in the database 📚.

Next up: diving straight into international user acquisition.
