Stop glorifying Filipino resilience.
We should not be proud of how well Filipinos survive problems that should have been prevented in the first place.
Resilience is not a replacement for good governance. “Filipinos are resilient” should not be used to cover poor planning, failed flood control, and lack of accountability.
We do not need to be more resilient. We need a government that does its job.
When public officials pride themselves not for preventing floods but for claiming the floods “recede more quickly,” you know how low the bar for good governance has fallen.
Stop glorifying Filipino resilience every time calamity strikes. Yes, we are resilient—but people shouldn’t have to be resilient because of corruption, poor governance, inadequate infrastructure, & failed disaster preparedness. We deserve accountability, not glorified suffering!
Let these flooded roads and communities radicalize you. Let this remind you of the large-scale plunder of flood control funds, from the Duterte years to the Marcos Jr. years. Let this compel you to revolt against a callous, soulless government.
Lahat ng sangkot, dapat managot!
