whoever on the TL posted that Phil Lester is older than Sidney Crosby I need you to know I remember that fact at random times and it fucks me up so bad
It’s all over. World Cup over , Wimbledon over. Nothing to distract you but the terrifying reality of your own thoughts now. Never mind, it’ll be autumn soon where everything dies.
Fox did a phenomenal job covering the World Cup. The Thierry-Zlatan duo was brilliant. The true most outstanding performer of these last 39 days has got to be Rebecca Lowe. Keeping the train moving with that many personalities/egos is difficult but she navigated it flawlessly
I don’t want to "download the app" to pay for parking. I don’t want to "create an account" to see a menu. I don’t want to "provide feedback" on a 30-second interaction. I just want to exist in the physical world without a digital leash.
Call it a millennial crisis if you want...
But in my 30's, I realized I don't actually want the life I worked so hard for. I don't care about titles. I don't care about climbing anyone else's ladder. I care about time. I care about slow mornings. I care about peace.I care about bare feet at the beach with nowhere to be.
I still want to make money... just not at the cost of my life.
You know what really bugs me these days? We can't own anything. Everything is a subscription service, like literally everything. You can't buy Microsoft Office, you have to purchase a subscription for a year. You literally have to pay for everything FOREVER. Isn't anyone else bothered by this?
Nobody talks about how we're all paying $15 for sandwiches now and just pretending that's normal. Five years ago that same sandwich was $8. The price doubled and the only explanation we got was "supply chain issues" which apparently means "forever."
One of the most jarring things about adulthood is the realization of how many truly incompetent people are in the most important jobs. When I was a kid, I just assumed everyone “important” was smart or they wouldn’t be important. Boy, was that fucking wrong.
