Kaivalya: What Patanjali Says Happens at the Absolute End of Yoga… 🔥

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali do not present flexibility, breath control, meditation, or even Siddhis as the final goal of Yoga. The absolute culmination is called Kaivalya.

> Maharshi Patanjali's system distinguishes between Purusha, pure consciousness, and Prakriti, the entire field of nature that includes the body, senses, mind, intellect, and material world.

> Bondage exists because consciousness appears to identify with the changing processes of Prakriti. Thoughts arise, emotions change, the body changes, yet the Seer mistakes these experiences for itself.

> Through Yoga, increasingly clear discriminative knowledge arises. The practitioner realizes that everything observed, including the mind itself, belongs to Prakriti, while Purusha is the unchanging witness.

> Eventually, even attachment to extraordinary knowledge and Siddhis must disappear. Nothing produced by Prakriti can provide final freedom.

> At the culmination described in the final sutra, the Gunas return toward their source because they no longer have a purpose to fulfil for Purusha. Consciousness becomes established in its own nature.

👉 This is Kaivalya.

The complete freedom of Purusha from identification with Prakriti. And with that... Patanjali's path of Yoga reaches its absolute end.

Five Dharanas: Meditation Through Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space… 🔥

The Gheranda Samhita describes five elemental concentrations known as Pancha Dharana, in which the yogi concentrates successively on Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space.

1. Prithvi Dharana — Earth
Meditation on the Earth element develops concentration through the principle of solidity, stability, and firmness.

2. Ambhasi Dharana — Water
The second Dharana focuses on Water, the principle of fluidity and cohesion within the traditional elemental system.

3. Agneyi Dharana — Fire
Concentration is directed toward Fire, representing heat, illumination, and transformation.

4. Vayavi Dharana — Air
The yogi concentrates on Air, the subtle principle associated with movement and the activity of Prana.

5. Akashi Dharana — Space
The final elemental Dharana focuses on Akasha, the subtlest of the five Mahabhutas and the space within which the other elements manifest.

👉 These practices are more than simply visualizing nature. In the Gheranda Samhita, they form part of a yogic system for concentrating the mind and gaining mastery over the elemental principles within the subtle body.

Drier Australia = higher mine output + fewer cyclones (normally knocks ~10% off Q1 exports). Brazil net mildly positive for Vale. Simandou already ramping. Tape already soft (~$97, FOB near 18-month lows). Extra reliable tonnes = pressure, not a crash.

Met coal
Same story as iron ore: Queensland and Canada get easier operating conditions.

Weather is a tilt, not the whole tape. China steel and high-cost supply still run the show. But the split is clear: coal wants the drought, iron ore just got more tonnes.

Six Types of Samadhi: The Gheranda Samhita’s Map of Higher Consciousness… 🔥

The Gheranda Samhita, an important text of Hatha Yoga, describes six forms of Samadhi, each approached through a different yogic method. Together, they present different routes toward profound absorption and realization.

1. Dhyana Yoga Samadhi — attained through deep meditation. The practitioner directs awareness inward until ordinary mental activity becomes absorbed in contemplation of the Self.

2. Nada Yoga Samadhi — approached through absorption in the inner sound, or Nada. As attention becomes completely absorbed in subtle sound, external awareness gradually falls away.

3. Rasananda Yoga Samadhi — connected with Bhramari, the humming practice. Absorption in its subtle resonance is described as producing an experience of profound inner bliss.

4. Laya Siddhi Yoga Samadhi — the state of Laya, or dissolution, in which ordinary individual awareness is absorbed into a deeper reality. The text connects this practice with the symbolic union of Shakti and Shiva.

5. Bhakti Yoga Samadhi — attained through intense devotion. Through contemplation of one's chosen deity, the heart becomes filled with Bhakti and the practitioner enters deep absorption.

6. Raja Yoga Samadhi — the culmination associated with profound mental absorption, where the ordinary movements of mind are overcome and the practitioner rests in a higher state of consciousness.

The Gheranda Samhita's message is striking... Samadhi is one goal, but the yogic tradition recognizes more than one doorway through which the seeker may approach it.

Agni Suktam: Why the Rigveda Begins With Agni… 🔥

The Rigveda begins with Agni. Its very first hymn, Rigveda 1.1, invokes the Deva of sacred fire before any other deity.

> Agni was central to Vedic Yajna. Offerings placed into the sacred fire were understood as being carried through Agni to the Devas, making him the great mediator between the human and divine realms.

> The opening hymn calls Agni the Purohita, the priest placed at the forefront of the sacrifice, as well as the divine officiant who brings spiritual and material blessings.

> But Agni is more than physical fire. In Vedic thought, he represents light, transformative power, sacred presence, and the force through which an offering is carried beyond itself.

👉 This is why beginning the Rigveda with Agni is deeply meaningful. Before the hymns reach toward the Devas, the sacred fire establishes the connection through which human beings approach the divine world.

> Agni receives the offering.
> Agni transforms it.
> Agni carries it toward the Devas.

And so the world's oldest surviving Vedic collection begins not with an abstract explanation... but with the sacred fire through which the dialogue between humans and the Divine begins.
