Ugh @Google will "recalibrate" the level of risk it is willing to take when releasing AI tools, due to competitive pressure from @OpenAI. This is the kind of market-driven arms race we do NOT need when it comes to tech that could drastically reshape society, for better and worse.
What the fuck is going on at Google? By looking my at the caliber of the people they laid off, Iโm guaranteeing that they have no clue whatโs going on.
In the past, layoffs would scare investors given they may hint bad planning, poor revenue plans, poor growth potential, etc. Nowadays, investors feel happy about layoffs. But layoffs doesnโt address the underlying issue: poor management and dysfunctional organizations.
