#WATCH | Chennai, Tamil Nadu: On bank employees' strike, General Secretary, All India Bank Employees Union, C.H. Venkatachalam says, "... At present, banks are closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays, while the first and third Saturdays remain working days. Bank unions have been demanding that all Saturdays be declared holidays, with employees agreeing to provide an additional 40 minutes of customer service from Monday to Friday to compensate. A settlement on the issue was signed in March 2024 and agreed to by management, but it has not yet received Central government approval. According to the unions, repeated assurances from the government have not resulted in any progress... As no assurance was provided, unions have decided to proceed with a three-day nationwide bank strike on September 28, 29 and 30. Around eight lakh employees, officers and managers from public sector banks, old and new private banks, and regional rural banks are expected to participate..."

विपक्ष के LOP से वार्ता — और आज Government के खिलाफ Strike!

क्या इसे सिर्फ संयोग माना जाए? या विपक्ष के साथ राजनीतिक connection और आज की Strike के बीच किसी मिलीभगत की संभावना पर सवाल उठना स्वाभाविक है?

अगर Banking Issues और Five-Day Banking वास्तव में प्राथमिकता हैं, तो सरकार और Finance Ministry के साथ लगातार सार्थक वार्ता क्यों नहीं?

विपक्ष के साथ dialogue और Government के साथ confrontation—वाह रे दोहरा चरित्र!

Five-Day Banking वर्षों से लंबित है। यदि इतनी ही ऊर्जा Government के साथ constructive dialogue और negotiations में लगाई जाती, तो शायद आज तस्वीर अलग होती।

और अब 11 September की Strike, वह भी ऐसे समय जब भारत BRICS Summit जैसे महत्वपूर्ण अंतरराष्ट्रीय आयोजन की मेजबानी कर रहा है। ऐसे समय में विपक्ष के साथ मिलकर सरकार के खिलाफ माहौल बनाना और Strike करना क्या देशहित और भारत की छवि पर भी सवाल नहीं खड़े करता?

बैंकर्स अब खुद सवाल करें—
यह केवल Banking Issues की लड़ाई है या इसके पीछे कोई Political Agenda भी है?
