A libertarian but not in the performative fake way. Neoliberal economic policy along with rugged individualism is what made the US succeed, prove me wrong.
@TheSonnyRuby@_madslyn@eMTBrides Yes, but even if we posit that God is the source of moral truth, we as humans would never know that. We can’t audit the divine revelations of others, and I’m guessing you yourself choose which parts of the Bible to follow on your moral intuitions.
@TheSonnyRuby@_madslyn@eMTBrides But God doesn't solve that problem, you are merely trusting that the flawed human who transcribed God's word did it correctly, and also your interpretations. Also people generally cherry pick parts of the Bible (Haven't met any Christian who follows Leviticus).
@TheOmniLiberal I'm convinced all of Hasan's animosity stems from that one girl who said "Let's just wait for Destiny to give the right answer." He's never recovered from the generational aura loss
@m1chael_kn1ght@eMTBrides In conclusion, I don't mean to demean you personally, you can believe whatever you want to believe. But it slightly aggravates me when people try to hide their personal moral beliefs behind God. God could exist, but I will make my own choices about politics.
@m1chael_kn1ght@eMTBrides If he "creates" what is right, we are back to sociopath God. Is blowing up a city wrong? I'm not sure ask God how he's feeling. Again, in my opinion this is sociopath God, and still means that evil people can say, "but no its right under God" (killing+ torture in name of Christ)
@m1chael_kn1ght@eMTBrides If he just communicates it to us, that means we should be able to figure it out ourselves, and must figure it out ourselves, because relying on external sources with free will never be reliable (e.g. what part of the Bible is metaphor, what commands should we follow, etc.)
@m1chael_kn1ght@eMTBrides In case B, this suffering happens because of human choice and God must allow it to allow us free will and the ability to make choices. For this case, I would refer you to Euthyphro's dilemma. Either things are right because God commands, or God tells us what is right above him.
@m1chael_kn1ght@eMTBrides That's not generally how the burden of proof works, but I'll give it a try. There is an immense amount of suffering in the world, that is obvious. Either case A this suffering is part of "God's plan", in that case I wouldn't follow him because he seems to be a sociopath.
