This crow & I were having a moment before two men decided they really wanted to talk to me. So please enjoy this video of the better part of my evening
Today is the 50th anniversary of Anne Sexton’s death. Sexton changed American poetry. She wrote about women’s lives, desires, and bodies when it was deeply taboo to do so. Her poetry opened the door for so many—including Sylvia Plath. I feel privileged to write her biography.
I figure I should probably start taking this being a poet thing seriously, I'm out of touch with how to find places to submit, so if anyone sees anything - please send my way!
1 submission this month so far 😊
It's been a decade and I still look for my sister around every corner, in every crowd, hoping that this is going to make it in the Guinness world book of records for "longest prank ever played."
It won't, though.
As Shane Koyczan wrote: 'my heart is bending'.
Yesterday, I completed a personal challenge of a poem every day for 30 days.
Are they perfect? Nah. Could they be better? With some editing, sure.
But that's still 30 poems I didn't have before. And it's the only thing I've been consistent about in 7/8 months.
