THIS IS MURDER.
THEY KILLED A MEDIC AND THE MEDIAS ARE SAYING HE SIMPLY PASSED OUT AND DIED. THE FRENCH MEDIAS ARE LYING, THE PIGS MURDERED HIM PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AWAY THE SITUATION IS AWFULLY BAD !
@silversatyr@hujanmiso why suddenly the roast to One Pace? 😭 i literally read the whole manga and then watched the anime through Pace and it's exactly what Oda has expressed in his original work (which is very political)
@Chr0ll0xREBORN@hujanmiso Dalton got voted in to be the leader how the fuck can he be a monarch, there’s no monarch in skypiea, and the monarchy in dressrosa was literally Doflamingos family. Just because some of the places he goes to he happens to help a monarchy it doesn’t make him a monarchist
@karka_twei@Z_OPNA 1. We all live in a current hellscape of inescapable capitalism. Can't do shit about that.
2. No one looks at the strawhat jolly roger flying and thinks about shueisha.
3. How does this stop One piece from having themes of freedom and rebellion against oppression?
@karka_twei@Z_OPNA honestly? does it matter? oda used a lot of foreign symbols as inspiration for his manga, such as che guevara, emiliano zapatta, tim curry, abraham lincom. just like oda used other countries symbols for his work people from those other countries can see themselves in one piece
@t_maru_summer@todorokirinrin@Z_OPNA ironic, because One Piece shows that culture doesn’t matter when we’re talking about the right to live and freedom. We’re all in the same boat because there are no barriere when it’s about taking action.
To all the angry Japanese op fans in my mentions:
As an Iraqi refugee who experienced the consequences of war as a child, I see myself in characters like Robin, Law, and Kuma for reasons that go beyond them being fictional characters.
You guys seem to think you’re intellectually superior to international fans because you were raised to separate fiction from reality. But stories have always been a way for people to reflect on the world around them. They allow us to understand experiences beyond our own, recognize injustices, and find meaning in things we’ve lived through ourselves.
That’s exactly what Oda does with One Piece. He takes real issues that exist in our world, exaggerates them through a fictional setting, and uses his characters and their experiences to show us how our world operates. The fact that it’s fiction doesn’t erase the messages behind it.
Robin’s persecution, Law’s childhood trauma, and Kuma’s suffering resonate with me because I come from a background where war, displacement, and the loss of safety aren’t just abstract concepts. I don’t need these characters to be real to recognize the realities reflected in their stories.
You can enjoy One Piece purely as entertainment if that’s what you want. But acting like international fans are stupid for connecting with its themes or applying those messages to the real world completely misses the point of storytelling. We don’t have to share the same experiences or upbringing to find meaning in a story, and you don’t get to decide what that meaning is for someone else.
