Oh oh my god I was just going for the joke of rewriting the opening number there but now I’m obsessed with the idea of them making him face the sun I mean can you IMAGINE
Acting is wild, dude. The guy who played Bruce in IWTV got nominated for a Tony for playing Curly in the 2019 revival of Oklahoma! and now all I want is for Louis and Lestat to lure him into a musical number next season.
OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL EVENIN! OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT! etc
@Trey_Explainer@fishyfletch Afterward the divine Heracles marries her daughter Hebe, a symbolic reconciliation with the goddess of marriage and family and an affirmation that a revered child of Zeus will endure. It’s a reverse katabasis!
@Trey_Explainer@fishyfletch The Heracles story is so interesting to me because I think it really strengthens the interpretation that his labors were a test, not a punishment
Glory of Hera murdered his wife and children and his mortal self will suffer for it, but his divine self can still regain her favor
@wolflioncourt I read it as a way for him to privately taunt him with “Marius loved me more.” Like he knew Armand doesn’t know about Those Who Must Be Kept and even if he doesn’t get the insult it’s absolutely DELICIOUS for Lestat to finally be able to use it without breaking his vow of secrecy
In the books he describes his rockstar era as “being Lelio again” and whether or not the show has him as Lelio or Harlequin in his own retelling, this definitely implies to me they’re taking a rather less than rosy view of Lestat’s motivations here. Our girl is unraveling.
Thinking so much about how Lestat trained to play Lelio in the books but in Armand’s retelling in the show he’s plainly Harlequin, so his makeup here isn’t an echo of the romantic hero who ran away to Paris, but of the prancing clown others have always seen him as
there’s something so similar about the makeup here and i daresay it might not be a coincidence (everything is a performance, idealisation vs authenticity, the public vs private, etc etc)
Fascinating that Uncle Tom’s Cabin and its adaptations were still so well-known 80 years later that you could use one of its characters for an easily comprehensible visual gag, while today it’s like a joke that it’s the most famous novel nobody’s read
The 1934 Ub Iwerks cartoon HELL'S FIRE shows the residents of Hell to be Napoleon, Nero, Rasputin, Cleopatra, Simon Legree (the villain from Uncle Tom's Cabin), Bluebeard, Dr. Jekyll, and Mr. Dry (the symbol for Prohibition).
The way a person tells them apart is that Cary Grant has almost certainly slept with men whereas Jimmy Stewart will not find out that that’s possible until 1976
The first teaser trailer for THE MUPPET SHOW special event starring Sabrina Carpenter.
"Back on the very stage where it all started, then ended, and maybe is starting again, depending on how tonight goes."
Ben Afflek is actually basically a greek hero bc only two women exist for him in the world and he bounces back and forth between them but he’s also fucking his buddy instead of either of them.
There should be a Donkey Kong character called "Larry Kong" who's like a gorilla version of Larry King. I don't know where he would fit into the story though. I can admit that
