I think Azriel’s shadows might be reacting to Gwyn’s magic, not necessarily a mating bond. In the ACOSF bonus chapter, a shadow dances with her breath like it hears music. In ACOSH, they rush towards her while she sings.(THEORY THREAD)-

In ACOSH, Clotho says the Song of Returning calls lost sisters home, but Bryaxis answers it too. That made me wonder: if the song can reach a being like Bryaxis, could ancient priestess music also reach Azriel’s sentient shadows?-
