I know of someone who wanted to sell his only house to finance his japa abroad, so he gave it to an agent to fast track the sale.
He gave the agent the property to sell for โฆ23M, but the agent started marketing it for โฆ30M while telling the owner that buyers were only offering โฆ20M. Frustrated by the reports, the owner decided to take a bank loan instead, using the house as collateral.
He later went to the area to inform the agent that he was no longer selling. When he got there, he met someone begging the agent to accept โฆ25M for the property. The owner immediately realised what had been happening and told the buyer that the price of his property is โฆ23M. Whatever extra amount they ask him to pay, he's not aware of it.
The buyer eventually paid the owner โฆ23M and gave the agent the remaining โฆ2M.
Sometimes, trying to make too much from one transaction can make you lose far more than you intended to gain.
