@adamkotsko Took me 16 years to get a 2 year degree. I was raising a family and working. It talk me the value of hard work and learning to prioritize my time. Keeping the main thing the main thing at that time.
@Brcremer I had never really thought about it in those terms. Maybe because for so many years my theology was based in fear. It is hard to shake those chains after carrying them for a lifetime. But it might explain why I have had such a hard time staying connected.
Jesus keeps inviting us Christians to take up our crosses and follow him.
Nationalism keeps inviting us Christians to take up our swords and follow Caesar.
We can’t carry both a cross and a sword. We can’t follow both Jesus and Caesar. Our allegiance can only be for one Lord.
One lesson that we Christians have not learned in the last 2,000+ years is that Jesus had no political control over the Roman Empire and he still changed the entire world.
We keep trying to change the world the way the Roman Empire did, instead of the way Jesus did.
