Current philosophy of discipline in schools:
"Well, he had a rough background so he gets to do whatever he wants and thereby ruin the learning of every other kid in the school without consequence."
And somehow that's the enlightened, "compassionate" approach
@julianblacks_ I belive all these good citizens lambasting the policy should call up their local middle school and volunteer to be the bathroom monitor
Admin: we know teachers hate xyz event, but we think the kids deserve it, so we're going to do it anyway.
Also admin: why is everyone calling out on the day of xyz?
@BowTiedKong As a bitter, middle aged, male teacher, I don't want any of the cutesy stuff, or more crap with the school logo on it.
Also, we don't all drink coffee. If you want to give something a gift card to someplace like target or Amazon is the safest bet
Or something practical. G2 pens
@adamboxer1 Our school tried to implement exit tickets for every class.
Then the union had to explain to them that 30 kids x 3 periods a day (block schedule) x 5 days a week is 450 exit tickets per week for a teacher to look at.
This idea didn't last long.
