Just 24 hours after CM Suvendu Adhikari’s appeal for “friendship” with the minority community, local Muslim youths in Sarberia, Nandigram reportedly set up a BJP party office.

The bamboo-and-tarpaulin office, decorated with BJP leaders’ photographs, has been described by local party workers as the first BJP office in Nandigram established by members of the minority community.

🗣️ Anwar Ali Shah, who is overseeing the office, said some members had previously supported TMC but later became disillusioned and decided to support Suvendu Adhikari.

• Around 1,700 voters across two booths
• Around 70% reportedly belong to the minority community
• Local supporters say they will back BJP candidate Hasi Rani Rath

The development follows Adhikari’s Friday outreach to minority voters, when he described the October 6 Nandigram bypoll as an opportunity to “build friendship” and work together for development.

He also said minority voters would not be forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” if they did not want to.

Whether this represents a wider shift among minority voters will ultimately be reflected in the October 9 result.

In West Bengal, we have approved ₹508.66 Cr. for strengthening and selective widening of NH-14 and NH-114 in Birbhum district. The project covers 91.90 km of NH-14 from Bhimgarh to Nalhati via Mallarpur and 56.40 km of NH-114 from Surul Village to Mallarpur.

The upgraded corridors will improve road safety, ease congestion, reduce travel time, facilitate smoother movement of people and goods, and strengthen connectivity between villages, towns and key economic centres.

The project will also support regional trade, local businesses and economic activity while providing safer and more efficient journeys for commuters and freight operators.
