Observing and Patience is the key!!
When you look at an image, you should first understand the proportions, shadows and light. Give utmost importance to this. A drawing with good proportions and okayish details looks better than one with most details and bad proportions.

Get comfortable with drawing your first few strokes on a clean paper. Usually it's hard for most of us we feel we might ruin the canvas/paper.

Your drawing skills only improve if you're patient enough and give it enough time such that it becomes a muscle memory to you.
