as I reflect on my time in RGCM, it is really sweet to look back at all of the material that we've learned that has equipped us to walk in a better form of cultural competence in the media realm. #rgcmtalkback21
@khaybeers I personally loved the interviews. They are things that I'd never really have the courage to and many topics are ones that I wasn't used to talking about. They helped me get out of my comfort zone for sure! #rgcmtalkback21
Getting to dissect one of my favorite artists and learn more about the heart behind his music, s/o RGCM for giving me the reason to do so! #rgcmtalkback21
throughout this semester we have been able to focus on identity and what that looks like within the media. I would say that one of my favorite unit's within RGCM has been "gender and media professions".
@bryce_bethany Yep! back in middle school I had a twitter account with about 20k that were nothing but the thoughts going on in a 12 year olds head - I'm very thankful that I have matured and but at the same time, why is it socially acceptable for young kids to have social media?#rgcmtalkback21
@BrennaF2022 You and I both, it is an interesting relationship between my family and I - so it was a bit challenging but very insightful for me as well. #rgcmtalkback21
Interviewing one of my family members for our second diversity interview was a success, and I learned a lot about my family that I didn't know before! #rgcmtalkback21
Preparing for our second diversity interview with a family member and I am both nervous and excited to address "controversial" topics with my family. #rgcmtalkback21
The "IT" factor is an interesting concept that I have lacked knowledge on, but am learning more and more as we dissect a very dense topic in this unit. #rgcmtalkback21
as I am doing research on different ad campaigns to use in my discussion post about diversity in advertising, it is reassuring to see so many ads promoting diversity - although we still have a long way to go! #rgcmtalkback21
@walliswrites@ashleeabel It's crazy to think back to the time of WWII and it wasn't even that long ago. America has come a long way in regard to inclusivity but still have so far to go! #rgcmtalkback2021
Just finished up my first diversity interview for my RGCM course and it was exciting to get out of my comfort zone and talk about topics that are very important! #rgcmtalkback21
@DanaSearles It was just as informational for me! I often times don't recognize the issues that arise racially because of white privilege and it's been eye-opening to do so. #rgcmtalkback21
working through our "racialized news issues & crises" unit in my RGM course and it is eye opening to be educated on some real issues that I had no idea about. #rgcmtalkback21
@_oliviajones__ I agree! I think we are slowly becoming more and more aware of technology consuming our daily lives. I'm curious as to what changes (if any) will be made to not let it completely take over.
Currently working on finishing up my “Fruitopia” assignment for RGM. It has been fun engaging in such a unique assignment that involves real life application! #rgcmtalkback21
