Suffolk
David and Debbie, a couple from Sussex who made clothes for whippets and who own whippets and who talk about nothing but whippets, want to sell their bungalow for a house. With room for shepherd huts, a craft room, an acre of land, and secure land for, yep, you've guessed it, bloody whippets. They have £700,000.
House 1 near Bedfield is a huge period property but all Debbie is concerned about is whether the gardens are secure for the wretched whippets. 😬
House 2 is in the pretty village of Wenhaston and the 4 bed cottage they're shown is equally pretty. But is there room for three whippets? 🙄
My advice? Buy some bloody kennels, Debbie!
House 3 is a massive 5 bedroom converted barn in Norfolk. It has a paddock, outbuildings, veg patch, courtyard with pond, another acre for shepherds huts so Debbie said the whippets would love it. Oh good. 🙄
But of course they don't buy any of them. They continue their search in Norfolk. Despite always wanting to be in Suffolk. Where they've holidayed for 20 years. Good grief.
Eventually they find themselves a Georgian house in Halesworth, Suffolk so they didn't need to be on the programme anyway. FFS. 🙄
We knew how to live it up in the 1970s.
A Wimpy Grill or Bender followed by a Rum Baba after a day shopping in town at Chelsea Girl, C&A and Miss Selfridge.
And on special occasions a steak in the Berni Inn with a bottle of Matteus Rose. Just on very special occasions mind.
And if Mum didn't fancy cooking, she'd whip us up a Vesta Beef Curry followed by Angel Delight or Arctic Roll. And often accompanied by a cup of tea. And bread and butter.
On Fridays, there'd be a queue at the fish and chip shop when it was a cheap meal. And after, Dad would pop out for a pint of mild and bitter from his weekly pay packet while mum chucked the fishy smelling newspaper wrapping away.
Oh the high life. But we miss it so. 😢
