The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center has received an audio recording accompanied by video footage of Ehsan Rezapour, in which he describes being beaten and subjected to electric shocks during detention. The footage shows severe bruising around his eye and injuries to his face and body.

Ehsan Rezapour, a 35-year-old resident of Bonn, Germany, was detained after returning to Iran and continued to face summons for questioning and threats to publish his forced confessions following his release. Amid these pressures, he set himself on fire in Tehran on March 29, 2026, and died in a hospital in the same city on April 6.

Rezapour had returned to Iran on February 8, 2026, to visit his family and child and attend memorial ceremonies marking 40 days since the deaths of friends killed during the January protests. His passport was confiscated at the airport, and interrogators questioned him about his participation in protests in Germany. According to people close to him, Basij forces arrested him on March 10. After two days during which his whereabouts were unknown, he was abandoned near Fardis with severe injuries. They said he continued to fear that his forced confessions would be released.

رضاپور ۱۹ بهمن ۱۴۰۴ برای دیدار با خانواده و فرزندش و حضور در مراسم چهلم دوستان جان‌باخته‌اش در اعتراضات دی‌ماه به ایران بازگشته بود. گذرنامه‌اش در فرودگاه توقیف شد و در بازجویی‌ها درباره شرکت در تجمعات اعتراضی در آلمان از او پرسیدند. نزدیکانش گفته‌اند نیروهای بسیج ۱۹ اسفند او را بازداشت کردند و پس از دو روز بی‌خبری، با بدنی شدیدا آسیب‌دیده در اطراف فردیس رهایش کردند. به گفته آنان، نگرانی از انتشار اعترافات اجباری پس از بازداشت نیز ادامه داشت.
