WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
4 days ago a security researcher accidentally stumbled upon a large database of passwords of emails, apple accounts, banks, gov email accounts, etc.

It was the largest database ever to be found but here's the catch, no one knows who compiled this database. No origin whatsoever.

The validity of the exposed data is not verified at this point.

5th Day - Media exposure :

TLDR; it's a nothing burger. 🍔

To be clear, this is not a new data breach, or a breach at all, and the websites involved were not recently compromised to steal these credentials.
Instead, these stolen credentials were likely circulating for some time, if not for years. It was then collected by a cybersecurity firm, researchers, or threat actors and repackaged into a database that was exposed on the Internet.

A Forbes reporter heard the story and went full click bait article mode without doing any formal due diligence or verification.

The rest of the news networks followed suit and caused more panic.
