2005 was truly a historic year for music. Especially Black Music.

I think there are two reasons it’s so monumental.

We saw new artists debut that year who are still around to this day and saw some veteran acts drop record breaking comeback albums.

On the heels of a B2K breakup, Omarion dropped his #1 debut solo album and owned the entire summer. Pretty Ricky got the radio pregnant. @MissyElliott made us lose control with THE COOKBOOK. 112, Common, Bow Wow, Amerie, Bobby Valentino, etc.

THEN

Mariah Carey drops ‘The Emancipation Of MiMi’

MJB came with ‘The Breakthrough’

Jamie Foxx came back with ‘Unpredictable’

Faith Evans, Toni Braxton, Jennifer Lopez - all three dropped some of their finest work that year.

2005 is the definition of stacked and unmatched.
