𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱'𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀

As part of the continued partnership to strengthen quality education across Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), Government of Jharkhand, and UNICEF India jointly visited PM SHRI Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Kalamati, Khunti, on 22 July. The visit provided an opportunity to experience the innovative, child-centred educational practices being implemented in the school and across the state.

The visiting team included Dennis C. Larsen , Chief - Social & Behaviour change communication India and Jesper Moller, Deputy Representative (Programme), UNICEF India, along with senior representatives from UNICEF.

During the visit, the delegation explored several initiatives that reflect JEPC's commitment to promoting holistic, inclusive and experiential learning. They visited the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Laboratory, Eco Club, Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Lab and the school library, where students confidently demonstrated hands-on learning, creativity and problem-solving skills.

A key highlight of the visit was a student-led role play on gender equality under the Life Skills Programme, conceptualised, written and performed entirely by the students. The presentation reflected the confidence, critical thinking and life skills being nurtured through Jharkhand's child-centred approach to education.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Government of Jharkhand, JEPC, and UNICEF India to advancing quality education and creating inclusive, engaging and empowering learning environments for every child.

On 31st March 2026, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education launched the Career Cards for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) at Kartavya Bhawan-2, New Delhi. He emphasised the vision of Hon'ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji in implementing the mandate of NEP 2020 through inclusive classrooms. By extending opportunities for equitable career pathways, lifelong learning and active participation in the workforce for CwSN, DoSEL seeks to ensure that no learner is left behind in the journey towards Viksit Bharat.

This initiative has been developed by UNICEF in collaboration with Pratham Education Foundation, NCERT, PSSCIVE and National Institutes for Disabilities. Senior officials from the Ministry, autonomous bodies including CBSE, KVS, NCERT, NVS and representatives from UNICEF were present during the launch.

These Career Cards are designed to advance inclusive career awareness and guidance for CwSN across all categories of disabilities.

Mahima Kumari comes from a village where no girl had ever chosen science as a subject, yet, she not only pursued it but also learned English after joining Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Kalamati (Khunti). With dedication and perseverance, she cleared the JEE Mains exam and is now shaping a bright future for herself.

During her time at KGBV Kalamati, she not only strengthened her academic skills but also overcame language barriers. Her journey proves that with the right opportunities and hard work, no goal is impossible.

She is an inspiration not just for her family but for her entire village. She is now paving the way for other girls, proving that education can make anything possible.

नयी शिक्षा नीति 2020 में मातृभाषा आधारित बहुभाषी शिक्षण पर विशेष जोर दिया गया है। इसी को ध्यान में रखते हुए राज्य शिक्षा परियोजना परिषद द्वारा @UNICEFIndia और @LLF_edu के सहयोग से 'पलाश' कार्यक्रम की रूप रेखा बनाई गयी है। 'पलाश' के तहत दूसरे चरण की सामग्री निर्माण कार्यशाला का आज समापन हो गया। इस कार्यशाला में पांच जनजातीय विषयो (कुडुख, मुंडारी, खडिया, हो एवं संथाली) के माध्यम से कक्षा एक और दो के बच्चो को पढ़ाने के लिए आवश्यक शिक्षण सामग्रियों का निर्माण किया गया। #Palash कार्यक्रम के तहत वर्तमान में झारखंड के 1,041 सरकारी विद्यालयों का बहुभाषी शिक्षण के लिए चयन किया गया है।

Today, State Program Officer Mr. Abhinav Kumar, #UNICEF Education Specialist Mrs. Parul Sharma, and members of Room to Read India participated in the ‘Read-a-thon’ under the reading campaign at the GMS Old ST located in Dhurwa, Ranchi. The officials read books with the school children and encouraged them to read. The ‘Read-a-thon’ concluded with a reading pledge presented by Mrs. Shweta Singh, a member of Room to Read.

राज्य में चयनित बालवाटिका केंद्र के शिक्षकों के प्रशिक्षण के लिए आज से झारखंड शैक्षिक अनुसंधान एवं प्रशिक्षण परिषद में पांच दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण कार्यशाला का शुभारंभ हुआ। इस कार्यशाला का शुभारंभ JCERT के सहायक निदेशक श्री महीप सिंह के द्वारा किया गया। 3 से 8 वर्ष की आयु के बच्चो में संज्ञानात्मक, भावनात्मक और मनोचिकित्सक क्षमताओं को विकसित करने के उद्देश्य से बालवाटिका कार्यपुस्तिका भी विकसित की गयी है। यह कार्यशाला #UNICEF और राज्य शिक्षा परियोजना के संयुक्त तत्वाधान में आयोजित की जा रही है।
