main fanbase is the exact people the book points out the absurdity of. i think movie narrator not NEEDING tyler like he does in the book adds to that as well. their dynamic is less codependent, and narrator not completely idolizing tyler as he does in the book makes it seem macho
the difference between fight club movie and book (IN MY OPINION) is that the movie feels like a genuine attempt at portraying masculinity. tyler’s ideas are presented as rational and correct, or it is at least incredibly easy to misinterpret it that way, which i think is why its
everyone i know who likes/has seen fight club doesn’t take it satirically, they see it as a genuine portrayal of masculinity and think tyler is a genius. none of them will talk about the nuances of the story w me its killing meeeeee
